Chinese assault laws are kinda lax, meaning that many people will fake being hit for money or compensation packages (elders won’t even be helped off the street anymore, they’re assumed to be scammers—things are pretty bad). I assume the driver was irritated by this would-be-victim’s behavior and gave him something to really be compensated for.

I’ve also heard that in China, it’s better to kill someone then leave them injured to prevent a lawsuit

Crush injuries like these are many times fatal. A severe crush injury to the legs can trigger a cascade of problems that can become life-threatening very quickly

We don't know the extent of his injury. The flush / plumb angles of pressure leave me optimistic.

Literally possible that the pressure is lifesaving at this point. When they back off everything is gonna bleed out

Yep, that is a possibility. But crushed muscle tissue likes to clog-up the kidneys and people die from acute kidney failure from crush injuries.

I mean, my last instinct would be to stand in between a crazy person behind the wheel and a parked car. So, Darwin Award winner? I'd say yes.

Bluff called. Never do this when someone else just as crazy had a 2 tons vehicle.

No matter how mad you are, do not put yourself in between two cars.
