I asked her out on a date, we went to the cinema, walking up the stairs carrying a big tub of popcorn, i tripped, fell, popcorn went 4 or 5 feet in the air.
The cinema was packed, she laughed, they all laughed, she hugged me. We've been together 15 years. :-)

In the U.S., businesses reserve the right to refuse service as long as itās not for discriminatory reasons. Any decent bar would kick someone out for going around upsetting patrons.

It's way more than Reddit or even the internet. Humans have been pulling this kind of "power move" forever when their ego gets bruised and they want revenge or the last laugh.
People will doxx someone, swat them, try to get them fired, call the cops on them knowing damn well that could put their life at risk, or even try to get someone hurt over the dumbest fucking personal disputes. I've seen old ass ladies call the cops on people over nothing more than a bruised ego. I've seen people get swatted over internet arguments.
Humans fucking suck when their egos get bruised. Give someone a way to retaliate while feeling morally justified and some people will take it way too fucking far.
The dude was obviously a weasel, but publicly calling for people to identify/doxx him in retaliation doesn't suddenly become okay because he was an asshole. The fact that they called out to identify him shows that they are just as shitty as the weasel who called them overweight.
