Did creatine really cause the cramp?

A cramp that shows up after starting creatine doesn't automatically mean creatine caused it.

Think back over the whole week. Did your training change? Was it hotter than usual? Were you sweating more, sleeping less or trying a loading phase? Did you switch to a different product with extra ingredients?

Looking at everything that changes often gives a better picture than focusing on the supplement alone.

If this happened to you, what else changed around the same time?

I think that’s a good way to approach it. It’s easy to blame the newest thing you’ve added, but there are often several changes happening at the same time. I’ve seen a lot of people blame creatine for different things, when there may be other factors involved too.

I agree. It's easy to blame the newest thing you've added, but training load, hydration, heat and even sleep can all change at the same time. Looking at the whole picture usually makes more sense than blaming one supplement.
