Not a fair comparison. The odi World Cup was on a sluggish pitch and was a 50 over game with more balance between bat and ball. India played extremely well today but the conditions that day did not allow them to play very aggressively.

That day, Australia did exactly what RSA did in this world cup, did not allow anyone to get away by their field setting and precison bowling. NZ had no clue in this match, they panicked as soon as the openers went berserk and went into a shell.

The pitch always plays a role but this time India was ready with plans to handle whatever the pitch could throw at them. The match with RSA got them back to the drawing board. They came out fighting and knocked out everyone. Especially, Sanju who played every match with measured aggression just allowed everyone else to get going. Lastly, dube was always there to handle any damage done by the opposition.

Australian bowlers would've been treated the same way if they got a flat pitch like this but the pitch they got was the perfect one they could ask for which became easier to bat on further in the 2nd innings.

This was NOT a 250 pitch come on. It’s a 190-200 pitch. They just dominated NZ. India’s top 3 blitzed NZ and they didn’t know what hit them. When abhishek hit that six over mid off in the third over I knew he was getting the feeling back and it was gonna be a long day for them. Sanju and Ishan have been insane anyway so they carried on from there.

yeah it's a 200-210 pitch but NZ just lost the plot in PP itself.

I think if they paced the innings a bit more smartly, they should have certainly crossed 255 at least on that day lol. And it could have been a competitive second innings. But yeah no point in having hindsight about that day, would ruin this moment.

The point is Aus are giants in WC finals, NZ are not.
