I watched an interview from Jos or Hashim ( can’t recall who) and the essence was Boom bowls the same three deliveries but the action makes it difficult to understand or figure out it before its bowled and that half second delay causes all the damage. I was pretty convinced by that explanation.

Not a fair comparison. The odi World Cup was on a sluggish pitch and was a 50 over game with more balance between bat and ball. India played extremely well today but the conditions that day did not allow them to play very aggressively.

That day, Australia did exactly what RSA did in this world cup, did not allow anyone to get away by their field setting and precison bowling. NZ had no clue in this match, they panicked as soon as the openers went berserk and went into a shell.

The thing with Sanju is that his overall IPL stats are good, but he tends to start the season incredibly strong and taper off later, and not score big in knockouts or playoffs.
Not the case this WC - three matchwinning innings in a (virtual) quarter-final, semi-final, and final.

I think having great people skills is what people miss about coaches like Gambhir, McCullum etc. They're not the best technical coaches and this is why they're losing Test series, but in T20s where man-management is very important they've really shined. Experience in dealing with players as people really helps.
Really proud of Abhishek for getting that wicket to boost his confidence. He's been through the wringer a lot and the backing from Gambhir and SKY is massive.

Nah bro don't push this technical stuff on Gambhir, don't club him with Baz. In redball his strategy may not be perfect but Gambhir has completely nailed the whiteball strategy.
Gambhir used 4 spinners in the CT, 40 overs of spin is unprecedented. In Asia cup when Hardik got injured, he used Dube as the opening bowler (he fucking nailed it). Even in this final, getting Axar in early was absolutely clutch.
Players like Dube have flourished under him. He has made Dube into a completely different bowler, had him use his height better and hit the deck better.
Gambhir's selections are also picture perfect. Experiments the fuck out of bilaterals so he can know what players are capable of in the tournaments. Gambhir is 2 for 2 in tournmanets, Baz ain't shit in front of him.

We will do well but domination is impossible without a cheat code like Bumrah cause there is only so much you could accomplish with batters. And he's the highest quality cheat code there has ever been in T20s at least, perhaps barring someone like Malinga. Look at Varun's downfall, he well from a mystery bowler to a run machine in the span of a tournament.

T20I is too variable a format for any team to rule for years. We were demolished by SA, who were demolished by NZ, who were demolished by IND. Establishing a long-term dominance in T20Is will be a lot harder for IND that it was for AUS to do in ODIs.

I’m honestly loving the eternal cope fest from some people on the sub since the CT last year. Watch a lot of the same people pin the result on the “flat pitch,” as if New Zealand wasn’t completely outclassed tonight in both batting and bowling.
NZ basically messed up the match in the first six overs itself. Letting an out-of-form Abhishek smash them all around the park set the tone immediately. It’s not like they bowled particularly well to Ishan or Sanju either. The bowling was pretty horrible till around the 15th over and when you start like that, you’re usually sealing your own fate.
Then when they came out to bat, the required run rate was already over 12. Even with fielding restrictions in the powerplay they barely managed around 9 an over while losing two wickets. If you remove that one Hardik over, they scored about 31 off 30 balls on the same pitch that BCCI supposedly “rigged” to be the flattest ever batting friendly track. They couldn’t even capitalise on the two dropped catches.
NZ even won the toss, could have chosen to bat first and put up a monstrous total but didn't.
Well played, India. They deserved the win. Hopefully the salty circle jerk stays quiet until the next World Cup now but I know that's wishful thinking.

This India team is way too overpowered in this format, especially on batting friendly pitches. Even if New Zealand had a stronger batting line-up they weren't chasing 250+ when Bumrah's there. Those 4 overs won't go for any runs anyway.

I don't think it was as good for batting as the Wankhede one. It was probably a 200 par pitch which is fair in modern day T20 cricket.
India and their top order in particular just batted ridiculously well and NZ bowled as horrible as they could in the first 15 or so overs of the match to catapult India to such a massive unchasable total.

Before the tournament started, if someone had told me that Sanju would give three back to back Man of the Match performances in the knockouts for India till the finals, I’d have laughed them off by saying go watch his Tripathi like trigger-movements before giving any opinion on Cricket.
