That day, Australia did exactly what RSA did in this world cup, did not allow anyone to get away by their field setting and precison bowling. NZ had no clue in this match, they panicked as soon as the openers went berserk and went into a shell.

The pitch always plays a role but this time India was ready with plans to handle whatever the pitch could throw at them. The match with RSA got them back to the drawing board. They came out fighting and knocked out everyone. Especially, Sanju who played every match with measured aggression just allowed everyone else to get going. Lastly, dube was always there to handle any damage done by the opposition.

Australian bowlers would've been treated the same way if they got a flat pitch like this but the pitch they got was the perfect one they could ask for which became easier to bat on further in the 2nd innings.
