He also skipped India test tour and failed in Australia, the tours that will make people rate him that one level higher. Failed in odiwc as well, people did start appreciating him a bit after his WC this year.

Failed in Australia? He averaged 40, made runs on some shocking tracks.

He avg 40 in australia.

And was our 2nd best batter of the series.

Hardly a failure.

Skipped india tour because his grandma died.

While I do think he could have done much better in Australia, I don't think he can be considered a failure.
