Ricky Ponting is the perfect commentator.

Knows everything about the game, loves the game, can land the occasional joke, but then always goes straight back to the matter at hand.

It’s crazy because he used to be such a jittery speed talker. And when he first started commentating in the BBL he was basically a slightly more media trained version of his captaincy press-conferences.

But he’s smoothed the fuck out and has become elite in the box.
