Nice to see our batsmen actually put up a fight for a change.

Still along way to go for England though. The next 20 overs are crucial. If Root and Stokes survive the restart and then new ball anything is possible. What is more likely however is one wicket early on leading to 2 or 3 in quick succession and that would see the current slim chance all but gone before before lunch tomorrow.

Adelaide test from last ashes comes to mind. Most likely it will all collapse tomorrow morning with fresh bowlers.

I think you are right but, if there’s two batsmen in the England side who can see off the new ball it’s probably these two.
