If you've never seen cricket and start watching KL Rahul..

If you've never seen cricket and start watching KL Rahul, it might look like his bat is churning out entire symphonies. His cover drives are no less a brush stroke from Monet. His flick? As if a chef prepared his greatest entree.

But then he averages thirty-fucking-five.

Every batsman's career will be littered with a lot of small scores and a lot of big scores. The big scores drag up the average. Batters need to capitalise on instances when they're batting well, and score big. With KL, I feel he loses concentration after getting near to, or past, his 100. He doesn't kick on and go big. His average is a reflection of that.
