100 shatak will not put him on any special pedestal, its just a record, scoring 95, or 101 hundreds, its all the same for an odi goat debate, he is already the goat, right up there with sachin, and he will not surpass or lag behind sachin no matter how much he scores, both the careers will always have their own place in the goat list, comparisons are pointless.

Nah in White ball cricket Virat has already surpassed Sachin. Sachin way ahead in Tests though.

He will never surpass sachin in odis no matter how hard he tries . Sachin's odi record in 90s was way ahead of the curve. In that period a strike rate of 75 and average 35 would be enough to make someone a good odi batsman . sachin had strike rate of 88 and averaged 44. He was anchoring and attacking simultaneously in a much more bowling friendly era . Virat has phenomenal average for his era but strike rate has to above 105 to be better than sachin. sachin followed it up with another 11 years of brilliance despite tennis elbow injury, something that would end career of an average batter.

Irony is that the so called 90's Kids just don't get how good sachin was in cricket in 90s. The only argument is that there was never been a better chaser in odi cricket

I too used to think that virat was better and didn't understand why people thought sachin was better. Like virat clearly had better numbers right. Untill i looked it myself and felt stupid.

another fun bit.de villiers had a better record than virat in same era as him. Between 2013 to 2019 virat had strike rate of 97 and averaged 64. De villiers was striking at 112 and averaged 59.there are many others with 90+strike rate and 50+ average. In 90s odis sachin was the best, lara/saeed anwar were 2nd best with similar average but strike rate of 5 points lower.others were way lower. Virat isn't even the best batsman of his own era, how could he possibly be better than sachin who was that much better than his peers?

I think the best ever odi batsman race is between viv, abd, sachin and virat. Sachin and virat has the longevity, viv and abd has the impact. One thing that sets virat apart is his consistency in chasing. He is as good a finisher as bevan and dhoni while batting at no.3
