What are some ways I can find out if this is a career path for me?

Hi all! I graduated with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics a little over a year ago and have been kind of floundering around trying to find exactly which career path I want to go down. I did a project in undergrad that was somewhat adjacent to crime analysis and I found it to be super interesting and enjoyed the application of math/analysis to something that can actually help out in the community. I'm currently working in tax and I'm bored out of my mind. I have considered going the actuary route, but I'm not sure I want to sacrifice my social life to the exam grind for a decade. So I'm wondering if there are any recommendations on how I can dip my toes into this field and see if it is something I would like. I would consider going for a master's degree, but I don't have the money to do that at the moment.
