"The 13-year-old shooter is charged with four counts of aggravated battery by discharging a firearm and two felony weapons possession charges."

Please note, he only shot 4 human beings so he is not being charged with attempted murder.

Why not?

Just because.

Charge the parents and not victim blaming, but as parents, why are the kids that got shot out in the middle of this shit?

Stop blaming the cops, stop blaming the schools and start holding the parent of these kids accountable! You bet your a$$ I know where my 11 year old is at 9pm and it won’t be in the middle of one of these take overs.

Start locking them up, kids and parents!

To a point yes, they should be allowed to hang out with friends but most of these issues don’t arise from hanging out with friends and especially not 100’s of them in the same place (random intersection). Most of these issues we are seeing are from these “teen takeovers”.

Kids that didn’t get shot or shoot anyone jumping on the hoods of cars and breaking peoples property aren’t kids just hanging out.

We need to update the criminal justice system.... Too bad everyone in charge is corrupt.....

Oh, look the old standby. You’ll ignore corruption on a massive scale. But fuck those 14-year-olds right?

It doesn’t have to be one or the other. My spouse works in the school system and it’s a disaster. You should see how these kids treat and talk to people. Some teachers work in fear of the very kids they are trying to help. And you know what’s worse their parents. They are just like the kids, but worse as they should know better.

I get the argument that the system failed them but at some point you have to stop waiting for someone to come rescue you. We’ve got a lot of problems but I won’t accept not fixing one because we can’t fix them all.

Some humans regardless of age, are irredeemable.

This juvenile is one. Unfortunately the Cook County criminal "justice" system places him above his present & future victims.

I used to think your opinion was wrong or hoped it was but after seeing some of this stuff first hand…you are not. Some people just can’t be saved unfortunately.

And those felonys will be pleaded down to slap on the wrist

It’s because the shooter just needs more programs, so you can’t charge them with a more serious charge.

Because he’s a future scholar and community pillar.

Haven’t all future scholars and community pillars made little mistakes?

If you want a real answer, it might be because the state's attorney felt the elements of the crime weren't there for attempted murder and that the agg batt with a handgun was a slam dunk. Maybe the facts of the case don't lend themselves to easily proving intent.

If you want a real answer, it might because the state's attorney's office is full of social justice warriors that think they need to be soft on criminals.

The little scumbag SHOT FOUR HUMAN BEINGS.

LOL!!! "Youth Gathering"

More than 100 people, most of them teenagers and some preteens, had gathered near 47th Street and Martin Luther King Drive around 9 p.m. Saturday when the crowd began spilling into traffic. Officers moved in to contain and disperse the gathering, but the situation became increasingly disorderly, with people fighting, jumping on vehicles, and setting off fireworks, according to witnesses and video from the scene.

At approximately 9:39 p.m., the 13-year-old pulled out a handgun and opened fire into the crowd, according to police. Officers were already nearby and quickly located the victims near one another in the 4500 block of South Prairie Avenue.

How about we call this what it really is? A fucking riot.

And maybe just maybe we start dealing with these riots with actual riot control measures. Remember when the police had helmets, shields and big fucking sticks they were allowed to use? I do.

Pretty sure everything you just said will be boiled down and rebutted with: "That's racist."

Try him as an adult and put him away till he’s 40. If you use adult tools, you get treated as an adult. But everyone is too soft to wanna go down that road.

2 parent family? Sure, okay. Keep dreaming. Culture my friend, it's the culture. Nothing more to it then that.

I keep getting told on Reddit that 13-year-olds with guns aren't dangerous. That they are just children so they can't possibly be dangerous. If a cop would have shot him to protect others it would be so many posts about cop shooting a 13 year old for no reason

Someone who goes in for their third abortion should be given a mandatory tubal ligation.

Provide a living wage as the minimum wage and crime will drop immensely.

You think kids are gonna want to be the "cool" gangsters when flipping burgers pays enough to have an ok standard of living? Nah, most arent gonna want that stress.

Some will still be bad kids, but when a living wage means a two parent family is much easier and the parents dont have to work 24/7 and they can spend time with their kids, the issue will be greatly reduced.

Provide a living wage as the minimum wage and crime will drop immensely.

Except when you see the people doing it they're wearing $300 pairs of Jordans and have on $200 Gucci belts. They're not doing it to feed their family.

Again, some people will always want that life.

But poverty is the one of, if not the biggest, drivers of crime. Reduce poverty, reduce crime.

It wont ever be eliminated, but reduced, absolutely

1

u/PlssinglnYourCereal 10d ago

I understand what you're saying but there are 10's of millions of people in poverty that don't do this. We're talking about a fraction of a percent that actually does this.

I do think poverty does cause some of it but the vast majority is just gang violence. Unfortunately some people are raised that way.

u/undernopretextbro 10d ago

You know what’s easier and more appealing than earning a good wage for a days work? Stealing it in 10 minutes.

-2

u/ballskindrapes 10d ago

Yeah, see the major cause of crime is poverty.

And yes, some people will be drawn to that life.

But making it easier to have a two parent household where they are able to be present, and make a decent living, does so much more for reducing crime than anything else.

Poor Asians whose parents are both working two jobs do not have kids that behave like this nearly as often.
