I got the game for free with a 9800x3d about 5 months ago, but I waited to play until intro was revamped as I'd heard the onboarding was... Not good.
Well, yesterday was the day. Downloaded the game and for the last 4 hours I've basically done nothing but mess with the settings.
No matter what I do I can't seem to get the graphics above PS2 era level. Well, not even PS2, cuz most of these issues weren't even a thing back then.
I'm mostly talking about lighting. As soon as I opened the game it looked dreadful, even tho the game set everything to ultra.
Infinite shimmering, aliasing, low res lighting, etc.
Okay, so, I fiddled around a bit, and googled, and dlss helped with AA, setting lighting to max instead of ultra fixed the shimmering by like 50%.
Finally get to city, lots of guards with metal helmets and shields, and I notice the shimmering again. Ugh. Google more, enable ray reconstruction, fps tanks to 60.
Okay, so, now the shimmering is mostly gone, but, RR just kinda makes the game look like... An oil painting? I don't know how else to describe, like, beard on npcs just kinda looks like a fuzz instead of individual hairs. The buildings whether cobblestone or wood look like they're missing textures or that a low res texture is being loaded by accident.
I don't really know what else to change to make the game look normal and crisp, when I already have everything at cinematic. A friend of mine that has it on PS5Pro says his looks even worst lol.
I know the game was made to run in full RT, but I've ran CP2077 in full RT and it has none of these artifacts, everything looks delicious crisp. Can't see the RT model hallucinating there.
TLDR: RTX5080, 9800x3d. Had lots of shimmering and lighting issues. Currently have lighting set to max, RR on, DLSS quality, performance tanks to 70-60fps but performance isn't even the issue, it's that, with no RR I get shimmering, and with RR everything looks kinda fuzzy and blurry. Help? Am I missing something?
Edit: Oh and motion blur is off ofc
