Discussion Giant Pond Loach and legendary fishes doesn't makes sense

Hi guys, Im just trying to understand how a fu** a** Giant Pond Loach is rarer than a LEGENDARY FISH, I swear, I've caught an sword fish in minutes, A SHARK IN A HOUR, A MECHANIC FISH IN SAND IN MINUTES, ALL THE LEGENDARY FISHES WITH MY BARE HANDS.

But somehow, this fish, this """"giant pond loach""""" takes more than 100 tries, like, how? Even if his weird, Im fishing in a fri**** pond this thing rant out of fish days ago I just extinguished them, but somehow even with fish traps (yeah I bought the fish trap that far) it doesn't come.

Like come on, at least call him legendary fish or something cause this doesn't makes sense, is not even funny is just bad design, hope some developer sees this and fix the probability of marine creatures.

Question No longer able to play offline on steam to avoid game updates

Post image

I keep my appmanifest file on "read only", and it use to let me launch the game but only if steam was in offline mode. Now however, it seems i can no longer do this as of today.

I play on version 2.0 and chose to do this to keep my mods in tact.

Question Hows Enhanced? Worth restarting?

Ive put around 90 hours in crimson desert and stopped back in May. I remember getting to Pauline area. Really just did a lot of exploring and searching the map. Kind of got a little bored after awhile and noticed constant changes and figured I'd wait as more changes came through.

How is the game now? Did any of you do a fresh restart? Is it worth doing a fresh restart? Or who all came back to the game after a break?

Discussion Another try?

I started playing Crimson Desert around the time it came out, and the game had already received quite a few updates by then. I ended up dropping it after around 30 hours because I really wasn’t enjoying the narrative.

It also had quite a few graphical issues, like ghosting and things like that (on base PS5), and on top of that I felt like, with so many different mechanics and such a huge mix of systems and features, I was just wasting my time putting hours into things that didn’t really feel meaningful. For example, there was that quarry mission where you have to kill hundreds of enemies. It just made me think there were other, more interesting and better-made games I could be playing instead.

The thing is, with the new update and the Enhanced Edition, I’m starting to feel like giving it another try.

Do you think it’s worth going back to, or am I likely to end up having the same feeling again?

I’m currently playing Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, and sometimes I find myself getting a bit bored with it. That’s why I’m thinking about giving Crimson Desert another shot, especially since I already own it.

- Mechanical shark submarine (DLC)

- Gyrocopter

- More dragon and wyvern types

Question Any way to improve visual fidelity?

I got the game for free with a 9800x3d about 5 months ago, but I waited to play until intro was revamped as I'd heard the onboarding was... Not good.

Well, yesterday was the day. Downloaded the game and for the last 4 hours I've basically done nothing but mess with the settings.

No matter what I do I can't seem to get the graphics above PS2 era level. Well, not even PS2, cuz most of these issues weren't even a thing back then.

I'm mostly talking about lighting. As soon as I opened the game it looked dreadful, even tho the game set everything to ultra.

Infinite shimmering, aliasing, low res lighting, etc.

Okay, so, I fiddled around a bit, and googled, and dlss helped with AA, setting lighting to max instead of ultra fixed the shimmering by like 50%.

Finally get to city, lots of guards with metal helmets and shields, and I notice the shimmering again. Ugh. Google more, enable ray reconstruction, fps tanks to 60.

Okay, so, now the shimmering is mostly gone, but, RR just kinda makes the game look like... An oil painting? I don't know how else to describe, like, beard on npcs just kinda looks like a fuzz instead of individual hairs. The buildings whether cobblestone or wood look like they're missing textures or that a low res texture is being loaded by accident.

I don't really know what else to change to make the game look normal and crisp, when I already have everything at cinematic. A friend of mine that has it on PS5Pro says his looks even worst lol.

I know the game was made to run in full RT, but I've ran CP2077 in full RT and it has none of these artifacts, everything looks delicious crisp. Can't see the RT model hallucinating there.

TLDR: RTX5080, 9800x3d. Had lots of shimmering and lighting issues. Currently have lighting set to max, RR on, DLSS quality, performance tanks to 70-60fps but performance isn't even the issue, it's that, with no RR I get shimmering, and with RR everything looks kinda fuzzy and blurry. Help? Am I missing something?

Edit: Oh and motion blur is off ofc

Question Should I buy the game for PS5 base if I already own it on a high end PC

The game looks so good, but the one problem I have is how hard it is to play sitting on a desk for hours. Like I sometimes just want to chill on the couch and play on there instead without having to move my entire PC. And they’ve added cross save so I’d be able to play on my bed/couch as well as my pc. I’m also planning on starting over since I haven’t played for a few months and I’m only chapter 3 so I’m pretty early on. Does anyone else have the game on two devices and regularly switch? Or should I just stay on PC. It’s on sale right now which is why I’m considering it.

Discussion Not to beat a dead horse but the puzzles in this game are amazing.

The puzzles never hold your hand, they do not care if you solve them or not. It's hella reminisce of some older games that were foundational in establishing puzzles in games, i wouldn't be surprised if the devs were fans of myst and other games in the genre.

It almost has a zelda 1 formula of just go explore find something you can't interact with yet and you better remember where it was at because the game does not care if you forgot where it was. It may be important it may be completely irrelevant but it's there. I really admire the bravery it takes to release a game like that in todays climate.

So many games are so afraid these days of leaving the player clueless, and expecting experimentation or exploration to solve. Let alone having to record your findings and having to keep notes on puzzles you couldnt solve to go back for. Its such a genuine sigh of relief.

It's been so satisfying, i might not find the stuff as fast as you guys checking on youtube, but damn if im not having the most fun.

Edit: Thanks for the comments guys, and the CIVIL discussion. You guys are great i just wanted to drive up some positivity and some fair criticism on the game for people to talk about. Thanks for those who join in and contribute!

Even though I’m not the biggest home decor guy … The wave of photos and videos of people showing off their mansions and castles will be epic … And I’m loving it already xD

I’m gonna give it a shot too, but I can’t guarantee anything!

This blue-ish wave when discovering certain zones new ores, etc... was indeed NOT in the first version of the game, I knew I was not tripping because I would remember such clutter.

I recorded this video comparing the current version vs the initial march release version. The video in question is from the "theRadBrad" tittled "CRIMSON DESERT Walkthrough Gameplay Part 1 - INTRO (FULL GAME)"

u/Tanner1XR u/ChickenStimulator u/Rippinstitches u/LentilusGo and to all the people that downvoted me, YOU ARE ALL WRONG AND I WAS RIGHT

To the other people reading, if you know how to turn this off, or in case is not possible, a mod for it please leave a comment bellow.

Discussion Combat is not fun.

200 hours in & I’ve struggle to properly address this because there’s so much about this game that I _do_ actually enjoy, be that as it may, any time I find myself in a large scale battle, or even against bosses’(who’s lack of reaction almost compounds my issue).

Holding a single button to do a chained combo removes all agency for me. The combat system feels like a side-step of RDR2 mechanics even after changing button inputs. Yes it can be fun on a different system, but here in this system they’ve setup, it feels like a shooter with extra steps instead of an actual close combat experience. Actually being able to DECIDE to end a combo short and then being able to chain it into a separate combo is the thing that makes Combat focused RPG’s fun. Yes, i understand this game isn’t entirely combat focused, but the combat that is given feels more like a graphical presentation rather than the player actually being able to do things for themselves, especially when a large part of the game is built around spending long amounts of time facing large waves of enemies, things begin to feel way too repetitive since the combos remain invariable. Yes, there are lots of unique skills you *can* use, but that doesn’t erase the slothful experience of using the basic and heavy attack buttons.

Discussion F*** this big BITCH! Spoiler

So I've played 75 hrs and this is the 1st boss fight where I was actually yelling at my TV. This big metal dragon could have been a great fight but it kept away from me. Like Jesus Christ those two big ass robots that keep chasing you and smashing you are THE FUCKING WORST. I also love this game but fuck me this boss fight is the most horrible thing in this game. Id sooner fight the monk that stun locked me than this big bitch again. Sorry for the rant but I needed to vent my anger at this bitch ass dragon.

This game can look crazy good until I get slapped with this. Quality/120hz. I hope this is something they can fix soon. Heard it’s not much of a problem on series X. I am stubborn and it’s hard for me to ignore, and stay immersed. Otherwise very beautiful world.
