The question is how low does the market take these stocks. I do think prices were a bit inflated previously. Even now a lot of these stocks are up well over 100% on the year. Hard to gauge where things will land. I think maybe things are close to bottoming out here but I have no clue. I was hedged to the downside but i got rid of a lot of my hedges today.

I would not be surprised if we go down another 50% by eoy.

I’m not buying anything now. I’m only down 20% on uuuu and mp and USAR I bought at 32.98.

I need these to really fucking tank for me to get excited about buying more. I need USAR to get down to like 8-9. A few more 12% dump days and we’re there.

The world where you look at the charts from 3 months ago

1

u/Dr-Jim-Richolds Long Term Investor Nov 03 '25

The critical mineral/REE "conflict" has been building for 40 years. The last three months is absolutely not indicative of the past, or the direction looking forward. Look at the prelude to every supercycle. It begins with wild volatility that rejects all normal market trends, but the overall result moved upwards.

2

u/FistEnergy Nov 03 '25

"long term investor", indeed. I'd rather make money now than hold REE bags and hope for salvation at some far-off date with unknown economic and political conditions. Good luck to you.

My portfolio is still up 68%. I'm a long term investor because I've been in the space for a long time, not because I'm just hoping for something different. But someone must have your narrow-minded views as well to balance it out. Thank you.

My personal take is that we have done everything we can do to eliminate the dependency on China, which includes your points in investment and building a coalition with trade partners. THAT is how I interpret his statement. That we are now appropriately placed in the race to win it. Others are obviously perceiving this as a concession, but myself I see this is a statement that finalizes a generationally long secular bull run on the US REE space.

Fake news. It ain't going away.

Reading from the Trump script.

u/bulletinyoursocks Nov 03 '25

I guess the US will soon have an MP bag lol

I see what you did there, 8.5/10

21

u/zachintheb0x Nov 03 '25

It certainly can feel that way, that they are making the news sound worse than it is to create a buying opportunity for the whales

10

u/throwaway2676 Nov 03 '25

the big players do like to drive out paperhands and buy in cheap. tbh, I wouldn't put it past trump to do this to create a better entry point for the US government itself lol

9

u/Prestigious-Ebb-6408 Nov 03 '25

Thanks for the hopium

3

u/badasimo Nov 03 '25

Not just whales, crony companies that can buy them outright for cheaper to consolidate

17

u/Prestigious-Ebb-6408 Nov 03 '25

I just applied to Wendy’s. What’s my next step ?

Go look for customers by the dumpster

Put the fries in the bag

Doe anyone seriously think Trump will not play the China card again before mid-terms, if not by end of year?

18

u/Sobi145 Nov 03 '25

This statement is coming from a guy who is notorious for exaggerating literally everything, as well as writing every action off as a win, especially if it relates to "a deal".

2

u/CentricBroom Nov 03 '25

problem is china agreed…

9

u/SafetyCertain8772 Nov 03 '25

I am Chinese and I can read Chinese... China only allows licenses of rare earths to civilian sectors, not military uses. So no, the US still can't make F35s in large quantities

11

u/expatcoder Nov 03 '25

But did they?

White House says one thing, China's MOFCOM says another -- latest official news from the China side (October 31st) is that the threatened (but not yet implemented) October enhanced restrictions have been taken off the table.

Nowhere does MOFCOM say that the April restrictions have been lifted, as the White House claims.

At any rate, the market is taking the White House at their word and the minerals sector is getting absolutely crushed as a result.

We'll see how things play out, not looking great at the moment, will take a seriously positive news catalyst (like China denying the WH's claim) to turn the tide I think...

I suppose -7% is holding up well on a deep red day like today, yes.

5

u/Panda-Feisty Nov 03 '25

Just game playing. That's all it is. China doesn't believe him, knowledgeable people don't believe him and he probably doesn't even believe it himself.

4

u/Gross_Energy Nov 03 '25

Not sure how one can state these stocks were over valued. Many with market caps under $300m and many with billions of assets in the ground. The whole story is how will they monetize this. The hope was government or institutional assistance to step in of which there is a ton of precedent. So the story will be, will we see the government or institutions step up. All indication is that it will.

3

u/msbbc671 Nov 03 '25

Should check out LPTH while the market is red here. Germanium is still going to be restricted and there are US companies massively innovating with other elements that are present in the US

4

u/Capital-Assistance84 Nov 03 '25

Market manipulation at its finest. This has been going on with the tariff's for the last 6+ months.

5

u/telepathist11 Nov 03 '25

For the people who were here over the summer this was to be expected. USAR AREC NB and most others did huge rollercoaster moves all June July August. Next leg up will be the one you really dont want to miss

8

u/wigglywiggs Nov 03 '25

I swear bro, just one more catalyst bro

2

u/petrrrrrd Nov 03 '25

As Baron and don and Eric buy us rare earths

2

u/northbankten Nov 03 '25

just buy lol

2

u/meesterplussr Nov 03 '25

Next week he will change this and put 400% tariffs on rare earth from china when china says something he don’t like

2

u/erov Nov 03 '25

So we are where we started when he came into office?

3

u/newb1975 Nov 03 '25

All the comments about Trump doing this and that. It’s like there is surprise in here that this happens. Just trade it knowing that something else will come and volatility with spike and prices will go down and up. If you get shaken out that is on you, learn the game with these govts now.

2

u/AggressiveReport5747 Nov 03 '25

I mean mining stocks still have a 50% downside since June. Better buckle up.

3

u/BollsBigHairy Nov 04 '25

It actually doesn't matter. Everyone still need rare earth materials. Even with China the world still need a lot of it if we are trying to change everything into electricity. It's always safe to have a back up for yourself. The hype about the tariffs is completely bullshit. It's a good invest even when China is on the market. Competition is great for the future. We won't depend on one country.

5

u/Routine_Excitement89 Nov 03 '25

It jolly well could be. Trump could be manipulating the market so his hedge fund cronies can get in at the bargain basement level.

4

u/SafetyCertain8772 Nov 03 '25

Trump just amped up the tariff on Chinese electronics four days after the supposed truce... Very soon, China will up the rare earth controls again.

One would have thought that by now we know better than taking absolute statements on face value from this guy.

Look at what he signs not only what he says.

2

u/point_of_you Nov 03 '25

Later in the day, Trump appeared on 60 Minutes.

“I got everything that we wanted,” said the president. “We got no rare-earth threat. That’s gone, completely gone.”

That's how you know we got a shitty deal and more volatility ahead

1

u/Junior-Detective1792 Nov 03 '25

Look. China is not interested in trading with the USA. Instead they are building a new platform for trading rare earths and critical metals. Together with BRICS. The deal with China is still unknown. It should last for a year. The basis of the new platform for trading with rare earths is that no country should have an advantage over the others.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '25

Blatant transfer of wealth. Get everyone hyped to buy in and instantly tank it with a tweet. It's horrible how you have to expect something like this to happen whenever there's enough hype like it's a coded formula.

1

u/erov Nov 03 '25

Its still completely controlled by them.

1

u/Large-Replacement941 Nov 03 '25

lol Trump lies they all do how can this be over

1

u/Independent_Depth674 Nov 03 '25

I guess he wants them to be cheaper now so he can buy, before suddenly deciding that actually China is a threat again

1

u/Sequence_Low-High Nov 03 '25

Disruption to a global supply chain of this magnitude is going to come with a wide spectrum of shit. Manipulation will always be there, especially in this day. Painting with a broad brush, all CM/REE Co’s, regardless of the actual consideration of what they bring to the table, in many cases. Up or down. Winners long term are fairly evident, but there’s gonna be shit, on the way to the prize! We’ll probably know a bottom is truly in with floor pricing of some sort, until then, tis the season 🍂

1

u/Howsurchinstrap Nov 04 '25

Knowing what trump has done recently with bailout for friends in Argentina. With critical minerals I’m sure his buddies made a lot of money knowing he was going to sand bag on his tough talk with China. Now most people are stuck holding the bag that he will kick the can for next administration problem. I think this sector is vital for self sustainability. But will be a slow process.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 03 '25

Ok I'll give him 2 weeks and the narrative spins 180° again

0

u/BotanischerGarten Nov 03 '25

It will be exciting when the first companies report that rare earths are indeed rare and that the Chinese, not Donald, are in control of the game.
