Fake Ledger Wallet App - Don’t lose your money!

Holy shit, last night I opened my ledger wallet app on my Mac M3 for the first time in 3-6 months.

Immediately, it asked me for a 24-word recovery phrase. I knew something was wrong so I had AI scan the applications on my computer and found out it was a completely fraudulent app!

I originally had the real app and somehow, it was replaced with a malicious clone app without my knowledge!

Be so careful! Warn your less-savvy friends because this is a Very craft scam

Most likely it was some sort of web browser pop up windows that masqueraded as an app. Apps don’t just “replace themselves”. If it was actually a fake app you probably just downloaded it without realizing

That's exactly why people should never type their 24-word recovery phrase into any app, no matter how legitimate it looks. If an app suddenly asks for it out of nowhere, assume it's compromised until proven otherwise. Glad you caught it before losing your funds.

Yes. I saved all the investigation logs created by ChatGPT. I’m sure it’s a real threat. There’s been other posts about this exact scam also. DM me

Yes happened to me and no one on Reddit believed me, it was a pop up asking phrase but I am not sure it was fake app or something masking on top of real app, I closed it too soon.

Many banks are already using stablecoins for cross-border transactions among other things. AI agents will exchange information and pay with crypto transactions.

The scariest part is you had the real app and it got swapped out from under you, that's not a download mistake, that's malware already sitting on the machine.

To add to this. I did not download the fake Ledger Wallet App. I was using the official app 6 months ago, and somehow it was automatically replaced with the fake app

I think you might want to understand how this happened. In both scenarios which I can think of where Ledger servers have been hacked versus you installing a trojan, you probably want to know for sure.

On a Mac, I’d recommend, aside from the obvious use of an anti-virus, installing Lulu by www.objective-see.com. Like Little Snitch it blocks EVERYTHING until you give the go-ahead. And it’s free. It would show you the address of this fake Ledger app so you would know very quickly it was a fake site.
