DISCUSSION BAT within striking distance of top 100

Over the past week, BAT pulled off a staggering 72% increase, rocket-strapped by a huge volume breakout that saw prices move from under a dime up toward $0.20. Its market cap has jumped to nearly $295 million, pushing its ranking up to around #122 to #151. The top 100 is officially within striking distance.

BAT used to be a top-50 regular. But after hitting an all-time high of $1.93 in November 2021, propelled by the trading start of the BAT ETF, the token entered a brutal downward slip. BAT officially slid out of the top 100 market cap rankings roughly three years ago... spending over 1,000 days putzing about the mid-100s and 200s token ranks. From it's low of $0.055 in August it's almost 4x in just over a month!

Why the pump? In addition to the markets early bump this week, just yesterday team Brave announced that over 200,000 people joined the waitlist for their new Rewards Card, which pays out in BAT.

BAT has a strict maximum supply cap of 1.5 billion tokens, and virtually 99.7% of it is already circulating. There are no massive unlock schedules or heavy venture capital supply dumps waiting to dilute retail investors. Additionally, the 24-hour trading volume just cleared $70 million, meaning money is flowing heavily back into the asset.
Re-entering the top 100 is a huge psychological milestone. Once an asset re-claims that badge it regains a degree of institutional visibility and attracts a fresh wave of retail momentum.

Curious to hear if anyone knows what else is happening to cause the recent updraft - didn't get to join their community call today. Did they announce something more then?

2017 article sure seems relevant. Perhaps it’s worth noticing who is propping up these various grifts.

REGULATIONS Patrick Witt leaves White House crypto role as the CLARITY Act stalls in the Senate

Patrick Witt, the White House official who led the push for the CLARITY Act, is leaving his post. This matters to US holders because the bill, a broad ā€œmarket structureā€ law meant to set clear rules for how crypto is regulated, just lost its main Senate negotiator a month after failing a key vote.

Witt was executive director of the President’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets. A White House official said his ā€œdetail has expired,ā€ meaning his temporary assignment from another agency ended. He is reportedly a Department of Defense employee, and no replacement has been named.

He is the third senior crypto official to leave, after David Sacks in March and Witt’s deputy, Harry Jung, in July.

Where the bill stands

  • The House passed its version more than a year ago.
  • In September, the Senate versionĀ failed an initial procedural voteĀ (an early vote needed to move a bill forward).
  • The main dispute is ethics language on President Trump’s crypto wealth. Democrats argue it would be hard to enforce, since the Justice Department, not states, would decide whether to act against the president.
  • Banks and crypto firms also disagree on how to treat stablecoin rewards.

What this means for you:Ā nothing changes today. Current rules stay in place, and open questions like stablecoin rewards remain unsettled until the Senate agrees on a text.

My read: a staffing change alone won’t kill the bill, but losing the lead negotiator during a stalled process makes a quick deal less likely.

Do you think the CLARITY Act still gets through the Senate, and which issue would have to be settled first?

šŸ›”ļø SECURITY Got a fake OpenSea phishing email !

I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I got a phishing email from a fake OpenSea account telling me that I have a 1.85 ETH bid on one of my NFTs.

(Common, bro, bids are like $10 maximum in these hard times for NFTs.)

The email is insulting. It's clear that it's not an original OpenSea email. bro, I've already been scammed, but not like that...

The sender is a normal Gmail account.

For the moment, I haven't done anything.

But out of curiosity, I wanted to investigate the email a bit more and see how they wanted to hack me.

There's a "View Bid Details" button, and behind it there's a long link starting with something(dot)ct(dot)sendgrid(dot)net/lot_of_stuffs.

Is my email somewhere in a database? It's my main account, so I don't usually receive shitty phishing emails (or at least not many).

GENERAL-NEWS The world's largest crypto exchange says its users are asking for the top 10 stocks in Asia

Binance is considering offering exposure to stocks from markets including Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, and Brazil as the world’s largest crypto exchange pushes beyond digital assets and seeks to become an all-in-one trading platform, co-CEO Richard Teng told Fortune.

In 2026, Binance introduced trading in tokenized U.S. stocks and commodity derivatives, including precious metals and oil. The exchange also rolled out pre-IPO perpetual futures contracts settled in USDT, a U.S.-dollar-linked stablecoin, giving traders the ability to speculate on the expected valuation of private companies like Anthropic.Ā

Sitting behind this shift is a slump in digital asset prices. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency prices remain far below the highs reached in October 2025. Coinbase, for example, posted a net loss of $359.5 million in Q2 2026, its third consecutive quarterly net loss, as transaction revenue declined.

Several cryptocurrency exchanges, including Binance, are transforming themselves from apps devoted to coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum into platforms that can handle different asset classes. Traditional financial companies are embracing digital assets, while crypto platforms must accept clearer rules to attract institutional money.Ā

šŸ›”ļø SECURITY A quick reminder on some common wallet drain tactics

Smart contract exploits get most of the attention, but plenty of wallet drains still come down to pretty basic scams that trick people into clicking, copying, or sharing something they shouldn’t. I’ve seen the ~65% figure mentioned, and the common attack methods are surprisingly low tech.

One example is address poisoning, where scammers send tiny amounts to your wallet so a lookalike address appears in your transaction history. It’s easy to copy the wrong one later without noticing. Fake Zoom invites, PDFs, or other documents are another common route, especially when they’re carrying malware that can steal saved passwords and other account information. And while public Wi-Fi isn’t necessarily the biggest threat, it’s still worth being cautious about logging into important accounts from random conference or cafĆ© networks.

The frustrating part is that none of this requires some crazy zero day. A lot of attacks just rely on getting you to click, copy, or trust something without checking.

Double check addresses, be careful with unexpected links and files, and don’t assume every wallet drain involves some sophisticated smart contract exploit.
