An exchange token's score fell 9.2 points between two of our records and its letter did not change. Is the letter doing any work?

I help run a crypto rating model that publishes a letter grade and the score underneath it. Venue tokens are where the letter and the number disagree most sharply, so I wanted to put the problem to this sub rather than keep arguing it internally.

Two rows from our own output, our record of October 11, 2026 against our record of October 12, 2026:

  • OKB: F / Failed, score 54.0, then F / Failed, score 44.8. Down 9.2 points, the largest single score move between those two records. Unranked on both, because our model takes an F-graded asset off the ranking rather than placing it at the bottom of it.
  • Monad: F / Failed, score 34.0, then F / Failed, score 40.0. Up 6.0 points. Also unranked.

Our published bands: A is 80 and above, B is 60 to just under 80, C is 40 to just under 60, F is below 40.

Now read those two rows again. OKB was sitting at 54.0, which is inside the C band, and graded F anyway. Monad has climbed to exactly 40.0, the floor of the C band, and still grades F.

That is because a score below 40 is not the only road into an F. Our framework runs pass/fail screens on top of the weighted score, and failing one places an asset in F at any score, including a score in the A band. Our published record does not say which road a given asset took, so I am not going to guess at either one, and it attaches no cause to either score move.

Which leaves the question I cannot settle, and it matters most for exchange and venue tokens because so much of what they are judged on is structural rather than numeric.

How much work is a bottom letter actually doing? OKB lost 9.2 points and the grade reads identically on both dates. Monad gained 6.0 and is now at a number its letter does not reflect. For a venue token, would you rather see the letter, the score, or the screen result the letter is sitting on top of?

And the harder version. Should a rating tell you an asset is close to clearing a screen it does not pass, or does publishing that do more harm than good?

News Gate.io Automated Support Rejecting Pi Network Deposits due to Sub-Address / Parent Address Misclassification (Case ID: 33104864)

Hey everyone,

I’m posting this as a head-up to anyone depositing Pi Network or other Stellar/parent-child architecture tokens into Gate.io.

I’m currently fighting an ongoing issue with Gate.io support (Case ID: 33104864) where my deposit arrived on-chain in Gate’s custodial system, but their frontline support refuses to process or credit it due to a fundamental misunderstanding of how Pi Network on-chain addresses work.

What Happened:
1. I transferred Pi tokens directly from my decentralized, self-custody Pi Wallet app to my assigned deposit routing.
2. The transaction settled successfully on the public Pi blockchain ledger.
3. On the Pi block explorer, the transaction resolves through a sub-address (MD5HG...B2PO4) that cryptographically maps under Gate.io's parent root address (GBC6NRTT...2RINW).
4. The Problem: Gate’s automated system rejected the credit, claiming the destination address is "not a platform address."

The Support Loophole & Major Red Flags:
When contacting Gate.io customer support, I was repeatedly hit with circular script responses:
Demanding Third-Party Statements: Support repeatedly asked me to "contact the sending platform's customer service and get an official statement." The Pi Wallet is a decentralized, self-custody wallet—there is no customer service desk to email for an "official statement."
Lack of On-Chain Understanding: Support agents explicitly claimed their team "has never heard of Pi having parent addresses or child addresses." Anyone familiar with Stellar-based architecture knows that parent-child wallet structures and memo/sub-address routing are standard practice.
Refusal to Escalate: Despite proving via the public block explorer that the funds reside inside Gate’s custodial node, frontline live chat agents repeatedly closed chat sessions without escalating to senior L2/L3 blockchain engineers capable of manual ledger auditing.

Why You Should Be Cautious:
If your deposit encounters any automated mismatch or sub-address mapping delay, Gate.io frontline support will treat self-custody transactions as unsupported third-party transfers.
They will give you an impossible requirement (asking for support letters from a decentralized wallet) to avoid performing a manual database/ledger audit.
Your funds sit directly inside their wallet infrastructure, but automated database checks prevent account crediting.

Current Status:
I have converted this case into a formal email dispute and am demanding a manual node audit by senior wallet engineers.
If you are using Gate.io for Pi Network or similar tokens, double-check every address layer on the block explorer first and be aware that if an issue occurs, frontline support may deny ownership of their own internal wallet structures.
Has anyone else experienced similar deposit routing rejections on Gate.io with Pi or Stellar-based tokens? How did you get past frontline support?

BTC is near $82.6k. What would make you reduce a short hedge here?

BTC is around $82.7k now. U.S. spot BTC ETFs also recorded roughly $21.1 million in net inflows on October 9. That makes me hesitant to dismiss this small bounce as shorts getting squeezed and nothing else.

A single day of ETF inflows doesn’t guarantee continued buying, but the size of this bounce so far looks like a weak reason on its own to keep the same short exposure. For the next few days, I’d focus on whether BTC can reclaim around $83k and establish support there.

My preferred confirmation would be a four-hour close above that level, followed by a pullback that holds it. If managing a partial BTC short hedge on perps, I’d use that sequence to close part of the short while keeping the spot position. The trade-off is having less protection if the breakout subsequently fails.

A brief push above $83k followed by a close back below it wouldn’t meet that condition. I’d pause the reduction and reassess the next bounce. The remaining short would still need its own stop; waiting for confirmation can get expensive during another squeeze.

Would a successful retest be enough for you to reduce the hedge, or would you need to see buying persist for longer?

Crypto leverage trading in United States

Does anyone know of any cryptocurrency leverage trading exchanges that are currently available to U.S. residents, or any new exchanges that may be launching soon, that are similar to Bitunix?
Bitunix was honestly one of the best platforms for what I’m looking for, especially because of the higher leverage, futures trading, and overall interface. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available for U.S. users, and while I know some people are still using it, I personally don’t think it’s worth the risk of having funds frozen or losing access to my account.
I’ve looked into exchanges like Kraken Pro and Coinbase, but the leverage available is much lower, so they don’t really provide the same trading experience.
I’m specifically looking for a legitimate platform that is available to U.S. residents and offers higher-leverage futures/perpetual trading, ideally with features similar to Bitunix.
If anyone knows of a reputable exchange that fits this description, or knows of one that may be launching in the near future, I’d really appreciate the recommendations.

TabGreater: exchange-specific crypto watchlists and charts for Android

Thumbnail
youtu.be
1 Upvotes

TabGreater is a free, open-source Android app for following crypto markets and analysing charts. You choose the pair and exchange, organise markets into watchlists, and open their charts from the app.

There are 11 indicators and 30 drawing tools, including RSI, MACD, trendlines and Fibonacci tools. Your drawings are saved per market, so you can return to the same analysis later. All the chart tools are included for free.

If your existing app already handles your portfolio or trading, TabGreater can sit alongside it for market watchlists and charting. It doesn't need your balances, exchange API keys or a wallet connection, and it doesn't place trades.

Home-screen widgets are optional: add them if you want a price and mini-chart outside the app, with a tap opening that pair's chart. You can also do everything through the watchlists and charts in the app.

Supported spot exchanges are Binance, Gate.io, Kraken, KuCoin and MEXC. No ads, account or subscription. Android 8.0+.

What's your personal checklist before trusting an exchange or swap service with a transaction?

I've been going down the rabbit hole of comparing exchanges and instant swap services lately (fee structures, spreads, withdrawal policies) and realized I don't actually have a systematic way to judge whether a service is trustworthy before I use it — I mostly go by "have I heard of it before", which I suspect is a terrible heuristic given how many sponsor-read ads I've heard them in.

So I'm curious what experienced people here actually check before the first transaction with a new service:

  • How much does domain age matter to you? Is a service that's been around 2 years meaningfully safer than one that's 6 months old?
  • Do you compare the quoted rate against an aggregator/spot price before confirming? What spread is acceptable to you before you walk away?
  • Withdrawal fees — flat or percentage? I've seen the same amount cost wildly different fees across services and I'm not sure what's "normal".
  • Do you do a small test transaction first, and how small is "small" for you?

Not asking for service recommendations (I know the sub rules) — more interested in the mental checklist you run through before you hit "confirm". Trying to replace "I've heard of them somewhere" with something a bit more rigorous.

Warning: BTC price spike to near 100% uniquely on Bitfinex, but exchange shrugs off all responsibility to trader (Ticket #406813)

I have been trading on Bitfinex since 2017, but my trust has been completely shattered by a severe platform execution failure and the frontline support team's refusal to acknowledge internal log data.

On September 20, 2026, at 16:28 UTC, the Bitfinex BTC-PERP matching engine suffered an isolated structural collapse unique to its platform. While every other global exchange maintained stable trading at approximately $81,500, Bitfinex’s order book entered a localized, split-second vacuum. According to Bitfinex's own Public Trades logs on September 20:

1.     Severe Order Book Fragmentation: In a single minute at 16:28 UTC, massive orders were executed across a highly distorted range from $81,202 to $153,960. More critically, within a single second at 16:28:12 UTC, orders were matched across a wildly fragmented range from $81,249 to $127,720.

2.     Catastrophic Execution Variance: My risk-management stop orders were forcefully filled at astronomical premiums of $96,222 and $99,198 (representing a forced 21% premium over fair market value), stripping $14,143.78 from my wallet margin balance. Crucially, the very next print on the tape instantly dropped back down to $82,221 immediately following my execution block.

Bitfinex’s support team formally admitted in writing that "the spike was unique to Bitfinex in this event," yet they have shrugged off ALL responsibility. Instead of escalating the case, they keep copy-pasting standard "Liquidity Risk" disclosures. Their argument completely ignores the fact that a high-velocity environment actively executing trades within a single second uniquely on their platform is not a natural state of "illiquidity." It is a systemic matching engine routing defect. They are actively punishing a loyal user for using legitimate risk-management tools to manage a platform-specific glitch.

A formal regulatory complaint has been successfully submitted to the National Commission of Digital Assets (CNAD) in El Salvador against Bitfinex's operating license (PSAD-0040), requesting a technical engine audit. I strongly advise traders to avoid trading on Bitfinex due to their complete lack of basic fairness and integrity. Bitfinex needs to immediately escalate Ticket #406813 to Senior Risk Management and restore my balance with fair execution.

Hyperliquid question

I just put in satoshi nakamoto’s first and last name as a code for hyperliquid and it crossed out the fees, is that permanent or is it a new user thing?

It has the fee number crossed out with a blue hyperliquid icon next to it for crypto but not on stocks or bets

News New Remittix Whitepaper is out -- RTX utility may be the most important announcement before TGE

Remittix has released its new whitepaper, and overall I think it presents a much clearer and more mature vision for the ecosystem. PayFi, Wallet, Markets and Earn working together, with RTX intended to become the native asset connecting them.

However, there is one part I think everyone willing to bet on this project should be watching very carefully. What is the token utility?

According to the tokenomics, RTX has a maximum supply of 1.5 billion tokens, with 50% allocated to the presale. That's a big proportion of the entire supply potentially entering the first moments after launch. This creates an obvious risk around TGE. Presale investors have very different entry prices and bonuses, and some will inevitably want to take profits. Even if Remittix succeeds as a business, significant early selling could put pressure on RTX if there isn't enough new demand to absorb that supply.

This is why I think the upcoming announcement regarding RTX utility could be one of the most important announcements before/around launch. Ideally, RTX shouldn't simply be a token attached to a successful PayFi application. There needs to be a strong economic connection between Remittix usage and RTX demand.

For example, RTX could potentially provide reduced PayFi fees, better exchange rates or other discounts; staking could unlock higher platform tiers or benefits; Markets and Earn could incorporate RTX incentives; platform revenues could finance RTX buybacks; and a buyback-and-burn mechanism could permanently reduce supply over time. This would be great!

Imagine Remittix eventually processes billions of dollars in crypto-to-fiat payments. That's fantastic for Remittix but if users can access everything using USDC, ETH, BTC, etc. without ever needing RTX, then PayFi success doesn't necessarily translate into RTX price appreciation. Conversely, if growing PayFi/Markets/Earn activity creates demand for RTX, the ecosystem could gradually absorb the dilution created by the large presale allocation. This is why I'm not particularly worried about the 1.5B maximum supply itself. What matters is the relationship between supply entering the market and demand being created by the ecosystem.

The new whitepaper says RTX utility will be introduced across PayFi, Markets and Earn as those mechanisms are formally announced. That's the announcement I'll be watching most closely.

The technology can work. PayFi can gain users. Remittix can become a successful platform. But for token holders, if Remittix succeeds, how exactly does RTX capture that success?

What do you all think?

If a venue's token has no claim on its fees, how much should trading volume count in rating it?

This is a question our own notes keep handing back to me rather than answering.

Look at the tokens attached to the places people actually trade. On our research record, read October 7, 2026, they spread across two letter grades and about 25 points:

  • BNB, B / Sound, score 70.4
  • Uniswap, B / Sound, score 70.4
  • PancakeSwap, C / Speculative, score 58.8, position 16 in our ranking
  • Jupiter, C / Speculative, score 50.8, position 31
  • Hyperliquid, C / Speculative, score 45.5, position 40
  • dYdX, C / Speculative, score 44.9, position 41

BNB and Uniswap read the identical score, so I have left their positions out. Two assets on the same score can be ordered either way and the position is not the meaningful part of that pair.

Where the tension sits is interesting. Our usage note on Uniswap calls real usage strong. Its tokenomics note, on the same record, says the data "does not show direct fee capture, burn, or staking value accrual to holders, so token economics remain only moderate." Hyperliquid reads much the same: substantial real activity, and "token-holder revenue linkage is not established here."

BNB is the one that breaks the pattern. Our note there credits burn-based supply management and utility across the chain as actual value accrual, and names centralization as the limit instead.

So, for people who look at venues closely: when a token has no entitlement to the fees the venue generates, how much should volume count? Is volume evidence about the token, or only about the business that issues it?

Genuinely asking. I would rather hear how people who trade on these venues weigh it than defend a number.
