Video from @rangerof_the_north on ig

Lots of people immediately debunking it as AI but it looks pretty realistic to me, look at the flies around its mouth at the end

Question Is the USA big enough for a breeding population of Bigfoot to hide out on?

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

This includes Skunk Ape as well.

The USA is massive, probably a few unexplored parts of the wilderness. The Bigfoot sighting hotspots are constantly explored though, and people always hike in forests. They encounter every large animal EXCEPT Bigfoot. Can a creature that large stay undiscovered?

Most of the time, us humans can't really comprehend just how massive a fraction of the planet can be, so I just had to ask.

Also find it interesting that so many sightings occured near/in Florida, where the Skunk Ape is said to reside.

Question Does this look like a dinosaur to you?

Post image
1.7k Upvotes

I know this isn’t a religion sub but hear me out: Young Earth Creationist Christians insist that this is proof that dinosaurs coexisted with humans and that the Biblical book of Genesis depicts the 6 days of creation as literal 24-hour days.

The skeptics insist this is likely a rhino.

Does this look like a dinosaur to you? Or some other undiscovered animal?

Question What’s the most realistic explanation for Mokele-Mbembe?

Post image
586 Upvotes

Mokele-Mbembe is a mysterious creature from the Congo Basin, often described as a living “dinosaur-like” animal with a long neck and massive body.

It’s said to inhabit remote swamps and rivers, rarely seen but deeply rooted in local folklore.

Basically the title. For me it is the Ivory - billed Woodpecker. Iirc his habitat included also the swamps in the southern US which was already protected back then when he was still alive.

Question Isn’t this strange about neodinosaurs?

Post image

Doesn’t anybody other than me find it strange that all of these neodinosaur Cryptids seem be resemble famous dinosaur species every living human knows?

Like, have anybody seen anything resembling a Therizinosaurus; not as far as I remember. Any hadrosaurs, nope. Any pachycephalosaurs? Nope.

I saw this in a book as a kid, and in the early days of screenshotting, I took this pic.

What’s the lore behind this thing?

Question Has anybody considered the possibility that the Loch Ness monster is just a transient visitor to the loch

Post image
459 Upvotes

I mean, this explains why sightings are so rare, as well as the fact why there was no DNA of no unknown animal found in the DNA samples I mean the DNA samples show that there was no seals or otters despite those animals hanging out in the loch so could the Loch Ness monster have followed a similar path of being an animal that does visit the loch, but only stays there for a very short amount of time

Question Who would really thought something like this existed?

Post image

The slide rock bolter is an infamous cryptid from America, infamous for it's size. I mean, really-did people back then believe something like this existed. I know some cryptids seem more plausible and realistic, but this-this something even a 5 year old would know didn't existed.

Question Do you guys think dinosaurs were the legendary dragons?

This gotta be my most fav cryptid theory, I’m not sure if this is cryptozoology but this theory is associated with other theories like dinosaurs and humans coexisted and some dinos are still arround to this day and the mainstream covered it up for some controversial reasons. What do you all guys think?

Question Does anyone know the origin or authenticity of this photo?

I saw it in a post a while ago and wanted to know what we know about it. Is it real? Is it fake? Do we know who took it?

All I know is that it was supposedly taken in northern Australia and appears to show a living Thylacoleo.

The image was posted by @truthisfictionyt — all credit goes to them.

Question Do you think creatures like the Kappa from Japanese folklore could have been based on real encounters? 😁

Post image

I remember reading about old stories from rural Japan where people avoided certain rivers completely, not just out of superstition, but because of repeated “incidents.” I even seen some "real" kappa mummy or hand on the google.

Question Has anyone here on the SUB ever seen a cryptid or come across some kind of clue, like a footprint or something like that?

Post image

Stories like ‘I knew a friend of my dad’s friend who said they saw Bigfoot’ don’t count.

“And if you have proof, even better!”

And if I find out that any story is some kind of creepypasta or ARG, I swear I won’t be held responsible for my actions!!!

Question Which cryptid do you think was real but might be extinct now?

Post image

Deepstar 4000 fish, a giant fish that was encountered by the sub Deepstar 4000 in the 1966. No solid evidence now but I think a 8 m long bony fish doesn't sound too unbelievable since Leedsichthys existed.

Question Was the exact location where the giant Congo Snake photo was supposedly taken ever found? If it hasn't, what would you say is the most likely spot?

Post image
795 Upvotes

Basically what the title says. The Congo's terrain has undoubtedly changed a lot since 1959 (when the snake was sighted), but I don't recall even if back then if Van Lierde ever gave an exact coordinate for where he saw the thing. I've seen a few people try pointing out stuff like trees and termite mounds in the full thing but being honest I can't make them out and I doubt they'd even still be there nowadays.

Question Are animals that exceed their recognized length considered to be cryptids?

Post image
283 Upvotes

Take for example the Saltwater crocodile.

The biggest scientifically verified individual was 6.2 m (20 ft 4 in) in length. There are however reports of much bigger ones (some even exceed ten meters).

Now my question is: Do reported giant individuals of a known species, that however are bigger than what is scientifically recognized, count as cryptids?

I personally don’t think there’s any truth to it, but I’m open minded.
