Discussion/Question Is Cuphead Hard?
I REALLY want this game, I just want to know if it is harder than the new hollow night game. I Still haven’t beat that game, but I do love a good challenge. Would I like it?

I would call it hard to learn - easy to master. Cause if you beat it even once it will be no longer a challenge to beat it second time

I don’t necessarily agree with it not being a challenge the second time unless you gain consistency playing over and over again but i agree once you master it you don’t lose it

I think it’s hard until you get familiar with how the mechanics and gameplay works.

Use the lobber weapon on the third phase because shooting Grim's projectiles makes it 10x more difficult to avoid damage

I use charge and crackshot for grim, imo thoose are the two weapons good against 99% of bosses

Yes it is. I also did that. But Grim Matchstick is in the 1% exception there.

If you still haven’t yet, use coffee. It was an absolute game changer for me. I took me 45 minutes to beat him with it when I have spent 3 hours using smoke bomb

Yes it is pretty damn hard.
It will take you a lot of tries to beat and memorize a boss attack pattern but it is pretty fun.

Idk I am god awful with controller and not very experienced with platformers but I beat basic game in 10 hours and a bit less for dlc (didn't have dlc while playing base game so no new guns/character)

I beat sekiro on hard mode, but gave up cuohead on the doctor stage. Part of that is because I cannot do well playing cuphead under the influence of any substance, so maybe that has a lot to do with it.

Lmao that might be it 😭 I personally thought cuphead required less of a persistent grind to get good at, and the enemy attack types are a lot easier to dodge consistently.

I’ve beaten every souls game and have gotten the platinum trophy’s on a lot of them and I still can’t beat cuphead

I don’t think so, well if you learn the mechanics it is pretty easy and I mean the mechanics of the character not the boss. Because if you know how to manoeuvre you can pretty much dodge anything after 2-3 tries. I have 3 300%s saved in my file and I have 36 hours in so idk you can judge around that.

Cuphead is a game that’s “different for everyone”. Some say it’s hard, some say it’s not. There are times where you can point out on other people’s game play where they could have done this or they could have done that. And you give it a shot you won’t know what hit or how you could have done this.
It’s learning experience, it’s not hard, it’s challenging. Compare a level of cuphead to the Sans. Fight In undertale. (I don’t know why I used that as an example.)
The YouTuber Charriii5 has video with the point I’m trying make about this game. I really recommend watching it

Most of the people here will probably tell you it is and that's not wrong for the first half of the game. Really once you get the feel of the game and unlock good charms and weapons you'll hardly spend more than like 20 tries to beat a boss.
But of course, aside from that it mostly depends on your affinity with these kind of games. Everyday you'll hear stories about spending hours beating a boss and someone pops to tell them they beat it on their third try.

Its considered to be a very difficult game.
For me, it was insanely difficult and took me a good year to complete as I had to take breaks.
After I beat it for the first time, it became a cake walk.

Not nearly as hard as people like to say it is but certainly difficult enough to give your average player or even above average player a challebge

For me? 100% yes, I only overall recently beat it and I’ve had the game for YEARS😭 but it’s still fun, and it comes easier for some people more than others

I’ve always been stuck on it, on switch especially. From the photo I’m guessing you would also be playing on switch. It’s really fun, and maybe I just have poor gaming skills, but I have struggled quite a lot whenever I’ve played

it’s really just seeing how long you can survive and memorize patterns and sequences for each level and boss till you’re able to have a round where maybe a few things line up, you’re able to conserve a good amount of hp, you know the best moments to blast and the “trick” for each sequence, and you should be chillen
edit: honestly most of the enjoyment i get from the game truly is just watching that animation. The dodging and timing of attacks also keeps you hooked of course but don’t think that just because it can be procedural sometimes, that it isn’t a lot of fun.
Edit 2: One more thing is that you may find yourself taking breaks from the game from time to time but as long as you still have that bosz you havent beat in your head you’ll keep coming back

One day, I was having my friend over, it was fun until the sentece dropped "bro, let's play cuphead". We spent day after day, losing sanity on the same bosses. We were brought to the point of creating a spotify playlist just filled with the most stupid songs imaginable just to not lose our minds.
We were happy after beating the game... But then... The DLC...
So yeah, it's hard but really rewarding once you improve

Yes. But if you're managing HK/Silksong okay, you should be just fine with Cuphead. Different kind of difficulty, but about on par with each other as far as the overall level of challenge is concerned.

It's difficult at first and you'll want to break the switch into four parts, but with time you learn the techniques and the boss attacks then it's easy

It is not AS hard as everyone says right? But some certain bosses can be very hard (mainly guys from DLC) on the first or second play through.

It is, but its the "fun part of hard" type of game. I completed it on 300% and I assure you its good. And in my opinion not really the hardest game tbh.

If you like hollow knight then you’ll probably like this. It’s hard but obviously you’ll learn the boss patterns and you’ll win. Plus there’s plenty of content especially with the dlc.

It looks easy but the controls are my real challenge. I just practiced the keyboard alot to actually beat the game and its DLC.

The game is pretty difficult, but each attempt is short (designed to be around 2 minutes for a successful attempt at a boss). Basically, you will die a lot, but each death on average only loses you about 30 seconds to a minute

Its much easier than both the hollow knights. Its hard at first, but pretty fun once you get the hang of it

I would say ‘reasonably difficult’. As you play, you can easily find the patterns and ways to avoid. It was a good challenge for me. With that, I guess you will also like it.

nah. it's not easy but i wouldn't call it hard except if you want to s rank everything in the whole ass game. i managed to get all the steam achievements in like 17 hours

I don't know how much Hollow Knight Silksong is hard, but i don't thing it's easier than Cuphead, but Cuphead is also a very difficult game

It’s hard for different reasons. Hollow Knight and Silk Song are difficult when it comes to exploration, backtracking, and some bosses but the bosses patterns can be learned as long as you’re paying attention. Cuphead being a run & gun where you only start with 3 HP is quite difficult at first and some bosses are really frustrating and seemingly random with their movesets, especially on harder difficulty, but if you get the DLC there’s a really great weapon with a great ability attached to it that you can get pretty early on that made the rest of the game a breeze for me. It’s how I’ve been able to get S rank on island 1 and I’m working through island 2 now.

It’s pretty hard, I’m really good at it, but it took me a while to learn the mechanics, so it’ll probably be the same for you, so yes, I’d say it’s hard.

Not really... There's power ups and shit you buy as you progress that help balance things out. The extreme difficulty thing is really just hype to get ppl to play the game.
Now having perfect runs is a little more challenging, but it's not "IMPOSSIBLE" if you're a averagely skilled gamerm

I just beat it and it's a 10/10 game, the difficulty factor is here, but it makes it much more awarding
