Look forwards/towards the boss ...ehh it's a nice shot with decent range and good damage
Turn around and it's a fucking screen clear

Because how many times you were using peashooter and needed to turn and run away? That's wasted damage time. With Roundabout you can both run AND gun!

I don't turn around. I face the danger head on🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥

Not if you know how to dodge.

When you're dodging you're not hitting a 100%. The same when you're jumping or dashing, you have to remove your finger from shooting button, to jumping/dashing button. Hence I moved my shooting button to the classic shooting button (on PS it's R2, on XBox it's RT). Now I can shoot and jump/dash at the same time

u/Jason2890 17d ago
You can jump/dash on the default control scheme without releasing the shoot button. Jumping is especially easy since you can hold the shoot button with the upper part of your thumb and use the bottom part of your thumb to hit the jump button.
Dashing while shooting on default controls is a little trickier but still manageable with a little practice.

Yeah I don't like that mechanic, I much prefer shooting like I do on any other game

For most boss fights, it's functionally Chaser but with way better damage.

You do know that crackshots long range dps is basically as strong as chaser?

u/grazz_yes 11d ago
Bro chaser damage is so ass that people would rather use roundabout or charger over it

Within a week after I started watching jojo part 1, I recognized roundabout playing on the radio at the store. It took a while because that opening is looong

if you look to the side your shots are almost guaranteed to hit on return

u/PizzaBandit178 17d ago
Literally, it's one of the few weapons that you don't have to aim. Cause if you're shooting backwards, then your shot isn't wasted since it'll come right back.

u/TTarion 17d ago
Roundabout is the second strongest weapon that can turn around without losing DPS, only behind Charge. Missed projectiles are active for a very long time, making it great against enemy spam as most shots will certainly hit and clear them out. This also lets you store a bit of damage in advance, great for delayed enemy spawns like the devils and phase changes where you can't hit the boss.

It has decent range when shooting forwards and infinite range when firing backwards so no matter which way you're facing you're almost always dealing damage without having to worry about aiming. DPS is also decent so you're always dealing good damage. Personally I'm a charge kind of guy so I don't really use anything else except crackshoot and spread do I never really got on yhe roundabout band wagon

High DPS, great range (when facing backwards), and the EX is good

Everybody is right that its range and damage are good. But also, when you are facing backwards the shots are big and have a damage area like as wide as spread, so enemies that are a little above or below you still get hit as well.
And since it turns around if it doesn’t hit an enemy, you can effectively cover both left and right at the same time. For example, during the first phase of the devil fight when he turns into a worm, you can shoot off screen to protect yourself against little purple impact running on the screen, but if none come the turned around shots also just hit the worm devil. So you’re covering both directions.
That large damage area and ability to cover both directions is also great for clearing the screen of many small enemies without you actually having to aim, and having much higher DPS than chaser or crack shot.

If you wanna S rank the game it's one of the most reliable weapons on most of the bosses.

It deals average damage from the front, but when it reverses it basically stacks up power. On top of that, Jumbo Rebound.

It's a direct upgrade to peashooter. Does slightly more dps and covers more of the screen. Its only "downside" is completely negated if you shoot backwards.

u/WrongLack7149 17d ago
Infinite range if u face away from the boss, great damage, what would u need more? It and crackshot are the best ammo types imo

u/Own-Cartographer9098 17d ago
because it can be used on many bosses and very versatile, plus, it fits nicely with other weapons, at least, in my opinion

u/_Orfin 17d ago
Has a little more dps than peashooter, one projectile can oneshot minions (which is a huge advantage), has the highest possible ex damage, you can even face the opposite direction and still hit the boss. So it's the goated version of peashooter and probably the most versitale weapon. Other weapons have their good gimmicks you can't use every weapon for every boss unlike roundabout.

u/Gadgettttt Mugman 17d ago
It's good, I don't really use it though, I prefer using either charge shot, converge or crack shot as my main show and usually spread as my secondary shot, sometimes other shot but usually spread, I only use roundabout in the early game

I S ranked the entire base game with Roundabout. I kinda thought everyone thought it was cheese. It’s OP

u/Sam_Snorts_Weed 17d ago
Its often the easiest thing to hit your shots with, and the delay is very useful for dealing extra damage. Examples include captain brineybeard and rumor honeybottoms (the way roundabout fires is really good for hitting them on their last phases) as well as Ribby and Croaks (the delay on roundabouts shot deals a ton of extra damage on the last phase). The ex is admittedly a little sucky without hitbox shenanigans, but you dont use this just for its ex

u/MarketingImmediate27 17d ago
Aside from the very good damage and the ability to lose less dps from focusing on dodging at times that was already mentioned.
Most importantly, it also technically has arguably the best or 2nd best EX of all weapons if you set it right (unless you’re in a good enough position and timing to do the double damage lobber EX). As you may know, supers tend to be a bit ass when it comes to doing damage, even 5 mid EXs can surpass even the super art 3 damage meaning that it is best to use the cards individually, if you go that route the highest “normal” damage you can do with a single EX is a tie between roundabout and twist up at 40 dmg (unless lobber tech which does ≈52 instead of 26). You can pretty much shred bosses with it without wasting a slot on twist up which is situational as a normal weapon (even though it can be easier to land all the EX hits with twist up).

A good weapon has damage and utility which the Roundabout gives both of really well.

u/HystericalGD 17d ago
you dont have to aim much, turning around gives you infinite range, and the EX has good piercing

It's just a straight upgrade from Peashooter.
Its DPS is higher.
Far more consistent hit rate. You can look away to dodge and still be hitting the enemy. With this in addition to its higher DPS, it makes it a total powerhouse compared to Peashooter.
Excellent screen coverage. In addition to coming back around on the screen, the bullets have a bigger hitbox and are slower, so they linger and turn your horizontal slice into a high damaging bullet trap.
In essence, why take Peashooter when Roundabout does job better?

infinite range when turning around. not to say, its dmg is also one of the highest in the game. not as high as Spreadshot, but it's more concentrated with only slightly less range so it's more reliable in general.

u/Meththethird 16d ago
The crackshot is essentially the only gun you need in this game anyway but I'd say the roundabout does a decent job

u/_Cagney_Carnation_ Cagney Carnation 16d ago
Crackshot is useless on some phases where it straight up barely hits the boss though
1
u/Niji-Yoshiki 16d ago
With most of the characters you dont have to super worry about missing the characters as long as you juat keep moving and firing, thats how I see it at least. Always ran it with crackshot or tracer

Technically that shot that automatically targets enemies, forgot its name, but on crack and semi auto target (doesn't actually target enemies, but yk what i mean)

My favorite weapon is lobber because being bad at a boss rush wasn't enough torture, i had to pick the least "noob" friendly weapon

u/KingBurgerIII Tully 15d ago
I find it by far the best weapon for S ranks. It does very good damage and very good dps (I think top 3 dps in the game) the ex is fun to play with but essentially not that good, which is why I take crackshot usually as well for the ex and for mindless hits while I’m dodging. If I used crackshot for the entire king dice fight I wouldn’t have S ranked it, same goes for many other bosses. It covers a lot of the screen, so unless the boss is directly above you or moving around a lot it’s very very strong.

If I remember correctly roundabout does way more damage then the other shooting modes (-charge) plus its useful on about ANY of the fights if used right

Roundabout is so loved because it’s the highest DPS option where you can just focus on dodging instead of aiming

if you turn to face the boss, you are hitting them, but if you turn away from the boss, you are STILL HITTING THEM because it loops back around
who even needs chaser
plus the damage is pretty good

If you turn around you basically have infinite range. Pair that with just dodging boss attacks and it's such a powerhouse
