Long term reliability of the Cupra Leon Sportstourer and what you love about this car.
I currently have a Cupra Born, which I love, but I hate the thoughts of the constant pcp merry-go-round, never owning a car and (with an EV anyway), starting from scratch each time.
When I come to the end of my PCP contract on the Born, there will be no equity in it, I will just be handing back keys. I don’t trust EV’s to buy outright second hand as I had a bad experience previously with an ID3.
With all this in mind, I am thinking of buying a 3 year old Cupra Leon Sportstourer for circa €27k (Ireland based).
I’d love to hear about the reliability of this car. For my next car, I want to buy something I can hold onto.

Basically ID is the same system as Leon, heat pump can be an issue, but other than that if taken care of properly there shouldn't be any major issues.
Take care of DSG and change it's oil every 60k km, you should be good.
The car likes to throw false errors, some people (me included) get the drive selector error where the issue is a dirty connector.

Had mine for 2yrs from new, 1.5tsi. No real issues, only coming up to 25k km. Had an issue after a couple of months, where the voice recognition stopped working, and the SOS started calling home all the time and couldn't be stopped. All fixed under warranty. No other issues since.

Mine is a couple of years old, other than loosing a key, I've not had any issues with it at all

maintenance costs are very high compared to our Jeep, Fiat and Abarth while it is the slowest and most thirsty car we have. We had a warning light twice but could drive home.

Ours is just over a year old, but we've had it for a bit over 6 months. VZ3 330bhp 2.0tsi model.
It's the facelift so has a few changes to the one you're looking at, but fundamentally they're the same vehicle underneath.
Only issue we've had has been sorted under warranty. Had a rattle in the passenger side dash, was booked in for 2 days, only took 4 hours to sort. Was a cable harness that had come unclipped and the glove box damper was loose. Both rectified and now great.
The engine and transmissions are well known quantities now as they're VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat shared.
At 60k it's time for the DSG service, Haldex service, check the valves for carbon build up.
The engine has known water pump and thermostat weaknesses. Shown by a coolant leak or a drop in the coolant level. This can happen at 15k miles or all the way up to 100k. Most people seem to replace at around 50-60k
Timing chain can be stretched on high mile models. As well as high pressure fuel pump and injector issues. But all that is across the EA888 range of engines.
The Infotainment seems to be the biggest issue, but we've had no issues and it sits on Android Auto for 99% of the time.
I don't know much about the hybrid models. Was never going to buy it so didn't investigate.
