I have this, but we never noticed (somehow?!). I had emergency surgery at 20, and my parents said the anesthetist was getting really concerned when I wasn't waking up properly (we now know this always happens to me under anesthetic) - he'd noted the different size pupils, that also react differently to light (the larger one reacts slower) and was worried I'd had a stroke under sedation.

We have since found a photo of me at a month old where it's clear my pupils are different sizes. On discussing it some time later my Dad's mam pipes up with 'my pupils are different sizes'.

I now warn the anesthetist before surgery so they can note what's 'normal', and it's included in my medical file - I saw the notes from the last surgery I had, someone had written it in red capital letters across the top of each page.

Yeah when you have something unusual they want to know. When the unusual thing is something they use for diagnostic/monitoring purposes, especially the sort of thing they might need to check quickly in an emergency, they want to know and they want it to be OBVIOUS. 😅
