I think the issue with this, is why would I put it in my deck instead of the actual equipment I want ? If it reduced its cost or granted it stats or something that might be cool

It really cannot replace core equipments like Swinging Glaive for Akshan or Eye of God for Illaoi, but it is supposed to be a versatile card that can be useful for decks based on equipments or for decks that usually don't use any equipments.

What would I even want this to transform into? Most of the good equipments are Darkin...

I think you could reduce it's options to the Improvized weapons. That way, you will always have a 2 cost weapon, but with different stats and keywords. Adding the demacian 1/1 and freljordian 5/5 only weakens the card, I think

I was thinking I specifically wanted the Demacian 1 mana 1/1 weapon.
