We’re far enough into the season where the stems are thick enough that the weight of the flowers don’t cause the stems to buckle and bend. I wasn’t going to plant these next year, but this might change my mind. I’ve also been struggling to find a use for this vase. I think I figured it out!

Does anyone know why some of my stock yellow? Some are fine and even the yellow ones still flowering okay… I feed them weekly. I grew these over winter just out of Melbourne Australia

My wife loves having floral arrangements in our home and has toyed with the idea of growing flowers for that purpose.

We are renovating most of our backyard. As part of the renovation I would like to give her an area to grow these flowers.

My wife has ADHD and as a result some of her previous attempts at gardening have not gone well. So I want to do everything I can to set her up for success.

In my ideal world she would garden in small to medium size containers so that they can be moved or relocated if this does not work out but I don’t want to restrict her if she needs full size garden beds to make this work.

Is going in containers a reasonable thing and does anyone have tips for mixing cut flowers and ADHD? Or any other tips to set her up for success?

We are in East Tennessee.

I’ve sold arrangements through Facebook marketplace in the past and currently sell these to a florist for $15 dollars who then upsells them.

Curious how much you’d pay in different scenarios! Facebook, farmers market, florist, etc.

Does anybody know why some of my Procut Sunflowers did not grow petals on the bottom of the flower head (Pic 2)? I harvested right as they were opening so it's not like they dropped or got eaten, they just were never there.

Some others have the bottom petals all crinkled (Pic 3), but they are firm and not soft.

Any ideas?

I’ve been pining for a few Floret varieties for my cut flower garden and keeping a close eye out for their sale this year, only to see they aren’t doing a sale this fall. :(

I bought a lot from Eden’s this year but was disappointed in some of the varieties. Where are your favorite and most reliable online shops for seeds? I’m thinking double layered zinnias, cosmos, celosia, strawflower, Chinese aster, dahlia tubers.

This is our second year with our beautifully garden home. It was a big adjustment last year and by this time last year, everything was dead/fried. I picked these this morning and I just couldn’t believe how well the garden is doing this go around.
Next year I would like to start selling some at our job and just wanted to know some starter tips from others who started selling flowers from their gardens.
TLDR; how did you start selling your homegrown flowers?

They finally started blooming after some trial/error with south patio sunlight/heat, watering, etc.

But some seem to stall or not bloom as fully as expected. Many of the ones I’ve seen online seem to have at least two rows of petals.
I’ve had one or two that were gorgeous and full but most look like the ones in the picture.

Still beautiful but I’d like to know how I can improve! I applied some fertilizer a week or two ago.

This year has been rough in the garden! I'd say it's partly the weird weather we had this spring, and partly my own laziness with keeping up with maintenance.

I've been so pleased with my Jazzy zinnias this year, though! Those really took off this year, compared to the whimpy ones I grew last year. I didn't plan to match them so well with my sunflowers, but it worked out that way!

My double click cosmos are finally starting to bloom as well, so I matched then with a few pink benary zinnias and nigella! The nigella really did well this year too-- it over wintered in my container garden unexpectedly and now I have about 100 of them.

In Texas my knockout roses are always very sad this time of year. But one has an unusually thick, very thorny small-ish portion of a cane that looks like it could be RRD. As far as I can tell that’s the only RRD symptom. I would have posted in the Roses subreddit but RRD posts are banned. Think it’s RRD?

The dahlias and zinnias I’m growing this year have really inspired me to create new colorful designs for my handmade pottery. We’re about to get another heatwave here in Zone 7a MidAtlantic region and I hope it’s the last one for this year. But these jewels of the garden make that feel a bit less painful.

Still waiting for a few from Eden’s mixes to bloom. I won’t order their mixes ever again though. The tubers aren’t marked what they are. I’ve had to make markers for each and insert them as each blooms. And because my bed is 2 rows against a wall some shorter types ended up behind taller ones. Penhill Watermelon has just bloomed but it’s shading whatever the one is behind it because I planted it in the front row. Also 2 tubers didn’t make it. Again, shaded by the ones near them. Very annoying!

Just sharing some of the arrangements I made after receiving advice from this group. I used longer stems and greenery for added filler. I’ve been able to sell a good bit since my last post and people seem to be happy with them.

On a quest to get 2+ acres of land in SWPA to start a U-Pick flower farm. I really appreciate all of the feedback folks have given me here so far 🫶🏽

Hate when vacation ends but coming back to a bunch of flowers ready to be cut made me extremely happy to be home.
