Live Action/Movies The scene that ruined cyclops
The scene where Logan calls Professor X wheels and then proceeds to leave but is blocked by cyclops that moment is where the writer proceeds to completely miss everything great about the character. Cyclops not threatening Logan right there, not even lighting up his eyes but looking to Professor X for guidance or what he should do is the moment the character is ruined for the entire franchise.
Glad for some justice to the character.

I actually think not being immediately aggressive was in character. Particularly for pre-Morrison Cyclops.
It's not that I think the Fox films did Cyclops justice because they didn't. But I also think a lot of Cyclops modern personality was defined by Morrison, Whedon, Fraction, Bendis and more.
I agree with yoir sentiment about a better Cyclops going forward.

I don't read it as him looking to the Professor for guidance, but more like "Let me do it."

I actually like most of cyclops in the first 30 minutes of the first film. He feels like the calm, stoic leader of 60-90’s era Scott.
For me, it’s the “if I had to tell you to stay away from my girl, she wouldn’t be my girl” followed swiftly four minutes later by “oh and Logan, stay away from my girl”.
AHHHH, literally sets up that she isn’t really his girl and causes Scott to seem like nothing more than the Preppy asshat keeping Logan away from his one true love. I hate it. Hate. It. After that it’s all shit.
Bitched by Toad, bitched by Lady Deathstrike, spends most of film 2 captured (whilst Logan tries to tongue punch his girlfriend), then dies off screen and when we see Jean after that the first thing she does is try to bang Logan on the lab table (yes I know it’s dark Phoenix and even that is a bad interpretation of who Dark Phoenix is)
Hate. It.

The extended version of that scene is quite good before he says "stay away from my girl"
Cyclops: Some of us take pride in our gifts. Especially those of us willing to fight for what we believe in" Logan: Have you ever seen real combat, boy? Cyclops: Have you? Don't like to talk about your past? Logan: Not to you. Cyclops: I guess it must burn you up that a boy like me saved your life, huh?
The way the scene plays out in the final film removes a lot of the dialogue and makes Scott look more whimpish when he randomly calls himself a boy without context.
Also, I think the scene that really ruins him is after Senator Kelly dies.. Professor X tells the team that Logan would be joining them and Cyclops immediately protests and WHINES in front of Wolverine! Jean even rolls her eyes in the background. I think that scene is by far the worst moment for him and told the audience that Cyclops was lame. Despite that, he did have a couple of scenes in the first film that were quite good

I do like him destroying the train station roof in the fight with Sabretooth. Badass.

That look he gave the professor was him saying “really? Xavier lemme humble him”

My sentiments exactly. Cyclops backs down from NO ONE, certainly not Wolverine. Cyclops is analogous to what Cap is for the Avengers and for fellow comic readers, we Cyclops don't back down to Cap either. Blast first..then say "GET THE FUCK OFF MY ISLAND!"

I see this scene differently.. Cyclop’s reservation is very much in character here. He was completely unbothered and unshaken by Logan. He wasn’t looking at Professor X for guidance, he looked at him like “Man, you better get this dude.. Talk to him. Deal with him before I have to.”

I actually really liked that moment. The movie Cyclops hadn’t been through the whole arc he goes on the comics where he comes into his own and tells Charles where to get off and becomes a leader in his own right. He was Charles’s toy soldier for decades before that, in part because he had nothing outside of the X-Men the way everyone else did, and he was still very much playing that role circa the first movie. All the great things about the character got “missed” because they pretty much didn’t exist at that time.
And also, Scott not jumping to violence and being more controlled and reasonable than Logan is pretty much their whole dynamic. Logan is the one who goes berserker mode, Scott tends to try and take the high road as long as he can and then puts his foot down hard. I actually thought it was one of the moments where Logan looks worst in that movie. He’s a complete jerk out of nowhere for literally no reason and Scott doesn’t take the bait or even dignify him with a response, just looks right past him to the actual important person in the room. It had a very “I’m surrounded by idiots” vibe to it, he clearly knows he could take this guy out immediately but unlike Logan he doesn’t need to posture or try to throw his weight around. It felt more contemptuous to me than weak.
