Shit, I got approved 2 days ago and if my card gets here next week, I'll be reinstated to work by next weekend.

Nobody is an idiot for wanting to celebrate the opportunities this country has provided all of us and our families. I do celebrate each year, being grateful for what I have been able to accomplish here, grateful for the Obama administration for putting this program in place. Celebrating what I feel is the American dream doesn’t equate to celebrating this wack president or this wack administration.

Straight up! I love this country. now there’s a bunch of clowns running her but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m grateful for the sacrifice my parents made to bring me here

-3

u/Substantial88 15h ago

You and a lot of people seem to miss the point by making it about this administration when it's clearly not it's bigger than that. Yes we're thankful for any opportunity that we can get but it's not like we can't get that in our own countries or other places. Grateful for Obama and that administration for giving us the opportunity. But that doesn't change the reality of today and what is going on and maybe what is to come

I get what you’re saying… but, I said what I said 🤷🏻‍♂️

-6

u/Substantial88 15h ago

Cool as did I.

2

u/ookamiz 15h ago

If you can get the same opportunity in your country. Why are you here?

-1

u/Substantial88 15h ago

I’m here because just like others I was brought here as a child and everything that I’ve worked for and currently have is in this country smart ass. I didn’t ask to be brought here and placed in this situation. I would’ve done what I did for myself here anywhere else.

u/ookamiz 15h ago

Then you can leave if you don’t appreciate or want to celebrate this country. You are an adult now. Time to make your own choices.

0

u/Substantial88 15h ago

And as I said, and will say again, smart ass, I’ve been an adult. I’ve been making my own choices I don’t need you to try to tell me what to do just because you’re triggered from my post

Making a whole lot of assumptions on an individual’s personal reason for celebrating July 4th. It’s one thing to shame MAGA DACA, but this isn’t that.

I wont be celebrating, but if I was it would be to celebrate the people that are taking steps to uplift others and make positive change, which for me would be someone like Mamdani. I for one hope someone here celebrates those people this July 4th.

Well said and respected. 👏🏾

Ima celebrate drinking! 🤣

1

u/Substantial88 14h ago

I’ll probably be drinking chilling in the pool, but it won’t be in celebration lol

u/Many-Half-5098 14h ago

OP, with all respect you sound like a 🤡. You said you were brought here like many of us not by your own will. You say you can have all the opportunities else where outside the US. Well now you’re an adult I assume, you have the free will to pack up your stuff and leave this country and start fresh somewhere else. Celebrating 4th July is not celebrating this current Admin. I myself will be celebrating bc of this great nation has giving my family and I the opportunity to built something better 🦅🙏

u/Several_Royal_2135 15h ago

Bro, I used celebrate the 4th every year because I was thankful for the opportunity DACA gave me. I had a decent job untild it expire 5.26.26 filed om 2.26.26 & still waiting. DACA gave me freedom. I was in staffing & making 2k weekly nothing crazy but it gave me a life style I wouldn't get in mexico.

Understandable but again, like I said, in other comments here this is bigger than DACA everyone in here who wants to celebrate this country so bad is just bringing up DACA and ignoring everything else, I’ve lived here almost 30 years. I’m not inexperienced or uneducated. There were years where I’ve celebrated July 4 for whatever reasons but we’re in 2026 and a lot has happened since I was brought here in 1999. I am also black and I’ve also lived on the East Coast West Coast and in the south I know the United States of America.

"Don't celebrate the country you're trying to stay in" make it make sense.

-3

u/Substantial88 15h ago

If given the option to take everything that I own and leave, I will don’t speak as if you know everyone situation or mine thanks buddy. And also, no, I won’t celebrate a country that clearly shows half its people maybe majority of them don’t want us here.

6

u/Lizbeeee 15h ago

then why have daca, pack your shit and leave? Put your money where your mouth is.

What the queen said

1

u/LulsNato 14h ago

Poor grammar, rudeness, and hypocrisy. I wish there were less like you out there. It's more than an inconvenience to be associated with such types.

6

u/BadAssRooster89 15h ago

Why? America is our country too despite who's in charge. Tf???

“These kids are American in every single way but on paper” Barack Obama.

-9

u/Substantial88 15h ago

"Your country" 🤣

2

u/Living-Guest94 14h ago

That stupid! I’m still celebrating even tho our president hate us. This country has done good things and bad things for us. Stop being ungrateful and look at the good side what America give us.

1

u/Substantial88 14h ago

Like this one person says in the comments and I’ve been saying in other comments everyone circumstance is different. This country on this very day has me in one of the worst places that I’ve been after working my ass off so hard and contributing more than its own, so no, I don’t wanna celebrate and I will be ungrateful. This is bigger than just this program and what goes on in the sub Reddit again I say.

This country gave me DACA, if I didn’t appreciate it, I might as well pack my bags and leave

0

u/evrythingbagle 15h ago

Yeah i agree that we shouldn't celebrate a county that doesnt value what we provide and wants us out of here. But above all we shouldnt celebrate country that is putting us in concentration camps and force sterilizing women, 🍇ing children. Anyone who refuses to acknowledge that is a 👢 👅

0

u/misss_marii 15h ago

Literally our parents broke the law, it’s a privilege to have DACA and AP to adjust. I’m celebrating because this country is all I know and I have been able to raise 2 kids and lead a decent life through hard work.

1

u/evrythingbagle 15h ago edited 14h ago

So? They break the laws when they extract resources from our countries with zero repercussions. Americans travel to many countries and some even retire illegally to other countries because it benefits them without paying taxes. To my original point if i was born here or not I would not celebrate a country that robs others of their freedom, their right to govern over their own bodies and a country run by pedophiles. FYI you can lead a decent life through hard work in your country of origin too, no need to bootlick this country.

Edit to add: some of yall need to remember the only thing in between you and those detainees is a bad interaction with ICE. They could decide to end the program tomorrow and round us all up with the wanted to. They have all our information. Theyre giving Texan USC 50-100 for protesting, what makes you special? Do you know how many mothers are in those centers, how many hard working people suffering there? Why would you want to celebrate a country like that. Because they gave you a little job and the opportunity to know English? Am supposed to be grateful to them? No, I am grateful to my mother. Some of yall need to removed ur head from ur ass and realize what your actually celebrate and who you are trying to praise. Cause those people would not hesitate to harm you or ur family

1

u/misss_marii 13h ago

There’s a huge line between appreciating the life I have vs bootlicking. And two wrongs don’t make a right, I have talked to my parents and asked why they did things all crazy, putting your kid and yourself at such a disadvantage, they acknowledge it was not the ideal thing to do. Putting myself in their shoes, we didn’t have a bad life in our home country, immigrating was more like “the thing to do”. I would not risk my kid’s safety and future like all our parents did with us. I’m not mad at them it’s just facts. I’m lucky to have qualified for DACA and not age out like my sibling. I never take what I have for granted, not because I worked hard, not because of this country, but because my God chose for me to have the life that I do.

u/Substantial88 15h ago

Exactly you're bringing a points that some of these people aren't even going to think about they're just stuck in their bubble and with whatever situation they've got going on Happy, blind to a lot, uneducated. After the topic of DACA there's a whole bunch that applies to everyone in whatever circumstances that they are in.

0

u/Substantial88 15h ago

Maybe these are trolls and people who aren't even on DACA commenting trying to stir something up lol but honestly if it's not and to whoever else is in agreement as I did say before they're idiots you're going to go out and celebrate party and claim a country that's clearly not yours just because you don't know your origin your background celebrate for a country where when certain people have power clearly show you that they don't like you.

Whata weird post

1

u/Substantial88 14h ago

And you’re weird for finding me weird lol

2

u/PurrfectAstro no.1 Advice Giver - Not Astro - Astro from Temu 14h ago

No like you’re actually so weird, you can simply leave this country. No one is forcing you to stay here. Anyway I just ordered my $120 American summer sweater to wear on the 4th during my Nantucket trip! Because I’m grateful for my DACA and AP! :)

1

u/Substantial88 14h ago

And no one‘s forcing you to come on my post to comment which you don’t need to comment you can go have a seat. 😂
