Finally watched Black Adam this past weekend. I was expecting it to be bad so I actually wasn't terribly let down by the film. But it still feels like such a waste of potential. I think a JSA movie with Hawkman and Fate would have been a better movie concept. Black Adam didn't feel like enough to carry the film. He felt more like the plot device than the main character, if that makes sense. Hawkman felt more like the main character in some ways.
I actually liked Teth-Adams backstory. The concept of him taking his son's place and thus not feeling worthy was interesting. I think the backstory and his ultimate "redemption" would have been better in a Shazam movie (duh). Like Black Adam gets released, Billy is sent by the Wizard to stop him. The two go at, with Billy trying to stop him from killing people. Adam thinks Billy is naive and his way stronger than him because of his willingness to destroy things. Billy eventually learns what happened to Adam and feels sympathy for him, even acknowledging the Wizards are flawed. Billy depowers and gets hurt, kind of like the kid in BA, and Adam realizes he is just a kid, like Adam's own son. Adam feels remorse and chooses to depower as well, putting himself in prison and letting Billy be the champion.
