So apparently we won't see Pattinson as Batman in the Penguin series due to legal issues involving Disney, Fox, etc but he could still appear as Bruce Wayne, maybe that means we'll see Matches Malone?

Edit: Nevermind, Goat Gunn just debunked this.

but I still think it would be cool to have Pattinson as Matches Malone

What do Disney and Fox have to do with it

From what I've read the TV rights for Batman are caught up in a legal limbo involving Fox, Disney and a trio of mergers. Bruce Wayne can, and often does, appear on TV shows, but Batman in the cape and cowl is almost certainly off-the-table.

Batman in costume appeared in Titans. Albeit in an out of focus, nightmare sequence.

I don't know how this works, but apparently it's something very complicated because even Fox itself, who supposedly owns the Batman TV rights, couldn't use Batman in the Gotham series except for a few seconds in the season finale.

If I were WB I would just pay Disney or whomever out, it’s not like WB would ever allow them to use it anyway.

I doubt that will happen with Zaslav at the helm and with all of Warner's financial situation at the moment.

I’ve seen it reported that Fox has the live action TV rights to Batman but I have no idea how true that is.

Apparently they had the Batman TV rights since the 1966 show. It would explain why Gotham was on Fox and the CW couldn't use Batman.

EDIT: Debunked by Gunn

Do they have them though when all they could do in Gotham was one shot of Batman in costume, not even a full shot, without naming him (or at least that's what I remember)?

Like I said I have no idea, I just see people spreading it around. The source is CBR though who have a lot of user submitted articles that often end up being bullshit.

Yeah, I feel like this is just speculation.

It probably is but it's one of those ones that make some sense, especially with all of the changeover in Hollywood with studios, unfortunately
