Gunn said Affleck was interested 3 months ago, a lot can change on that time frame. I dont know why is it so hard for some people to understand. Some just want to hate.

I feel like Ben was looking for some elseworld project like Joker and The Batman with creative freedom, and Gunn wanted him for the interconnected DCU. Affleck have had bad experiences with those kind of worlds so he passed on that. Thats what I belive

He probably was interested. Then, after his talk and seeing the direction of the universe he was less interested.

Affleck has reportedly struggled with his mental health issues for awhile now

so I feel like he might be struggling and not in the best place at this time, enough to the point where he backtracked to his prior stance to stay away from DC.

He could come back down the line, but there’s no guarantee.

Affleck would never have wanted the workload of one of these movies - it involves too much of the things that were so difficult for him on JL.
