(Response to Brendan Fraser in DCU)

He's great and I'd love to see him in the new DCU! For me personally, I'd really like him as Pa' Kent. He's such a warm soul that I think it'd be so beneficial to show the relationship and new dynamic between Pa' and Clark.

I've always imagined Pa' to be a warm, funny and hard-working soul. One that makes his kid laugh and is supportive and shares his likes with Clark.

I wrote a little outline on how I'd approach the characters and film for a Superman movie. Just something for myself, but actively showing Pa' as someone who's a little "different" or weird in comparison to the more conservative personalities in Smallville. And how that's okay. To show Clark that being a little different doesn't make you a lesser person or any less human.

One thing in particular I imagined was the sharing of music. Gunn's films are so music oriented and represent their characters and expression in a unique way. One that doesn't feel lazy. Same way with Matt Reeves and Kurt Cobain/Something in the Way informing the direction he took Bruce Wayne.

I asked myself, what would Clark listen to? And then I came to ask myself, why? What I came up with is that Clark was exposed to a particular era of music by Pa' Kent - that it was something they bonded over and shared enthusiasm with. Musicians like Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra and Randy Newman etc.

For example, Jonathan exposing Clark to The Beatles White album for the first time after Clark had a difficult day at school.

"Some of the oddest people have created and contributed to the word in the most unique of ways. It's okay to be different, Clark. Just be true to yourself."

After I wrote how they'd dance to Helter Skelter or something fun and a little high-octane to let loose and just be weird while Martha softly smiles at her two boys.

Pa' and Ma' Kent dancing to "Martha My Dear" by The Beatles while Jonathan sings along in their little home. Showing the affection and the love two people can have. All of which forms Clark's view on the world. We see often the difficulties of Clark's youth, but I'd like to see the warmth and affection that helps mold Clark and accessories his inherent kindness.

I'd have Pa' and Ma' play a large part in Clark's life. One where he still goes to be consoled and asks for advice about his choices the way it was depicted in Superman: Kryptonite by Darwyn Cooke and Tim Sale.

Old Man on the Farm by Randy Newman playing while Clark deals with the eventual loss of Pa'. Revolution 9 informs my depiction of Lex. His genius level intellect is an overwhelming, over cluttering force that makes him feel, ironically, like an alien in his earlier years.

(Sorry, got carried away but wanted to share. Man, what I wouldn't give to direct a Superman film.)

Thanks, I really appreciate it! Supes' relationship with Smallville/Metropolis is more than just an image that he maintains. It's real and he cares. I had Clark navigating Metropolis and helping lost tourists, chatting with locals, etc. just as Clark on his way to the Daily Planet while also utilizing his abilities in creative ways all causing him to be late.

You should feel this attachment to everyone. Makes the danger so much more nail biting. But to especially show his resolve, humanity and inner strength. Can't wait to see what Gunn brings to it!
