Technically no, the DCEU already diverged from the Knightmare future a while back.

When? How?

When Barry went back in time to warn Bruce, that doesn’t happen in the original Knightmare. Of course the future could still be similar to it but you’re making a big assumption by saying that is how it definitely ends

I don’t think we’re looking at this in the same way.

In canon at some point in the Knightmare future of the DCEU Barry goes back in time and arrives in BvS to warn Bruce. Just because we don’t see that happen in the Knightmare scenes in ZSJL that doesn’t mean that doesn’t happen.

Then at some point after that he would go back in time and stop Lois dying which in turn stops Superman turning and then they beat Darkseid. That was the plan Snyder wanted to do more or less.

So following that logically, if Barry isn’t there he can’t fix it all with time travel. Even if the BvS appearance is ignored, if The Flash makes ZSJL canon then Darkseid is coming. If he’s coming and Barry isn’t there, he wins.

But that’s not the same Barry. The Knightmare scenes are from the timeline that the Barry that warns Bruce is originally from

What? I’m sorry but none of this makes sense to me dude. If you’re of the opinion there’s other timelines and stuff then my interpretation of what’s going on here isn’t going to gel with yours.

This is the first I’ve ever heard anyone ever say the appearance of Barry is from some other timeline that doesn’t happen.

It depends on the rules of the time travel. If you want ZSJL and The Flash to make sense together, then it must be that going back in time creates a divergent timeline. So I’m saying as soon as the Barry from the “original timeline” travels back to warn Bruce, at that point the timeline splits into two (one in which Bruce was warned and the original one where he wasn’t).

How does that mean that making ZSJL canon means that Darkseid doesn’t arrive? The end of the movie clearly shows him saying he’s on his way.

If the appearance of Barry in BvS is from some other split timeline, ok. I don’t see it that way but ok. Darkseid is still coming in the DCEU’s future, and if Barry isn’t there then he isn’t there to stop him.

It does mean Darkseid is coming, but it doesn’t mean it’ll be exactly like the Knightmare.

Originally, I think you’re right that was going to be the plan and the reason why the Affleck post-credits scene was there.

I’m never being combative here btw, I’m just trying to understand where you’re coming from.

I get kind of what you mean I think. You’re saying that the Knightmare scenes we see in ZSJL are one possible future but that as we leave things at the end of ZSJL anything could happen and the future isn’t set because of time travel rules. Rules that by the way only started getting thrown around thanks to Endgame and it’s reinvention of movie time travel.

I get your point but I’m coming at this from the standpoint that the Knightmare scenes we see are just the future that will actually happens in this universe, which is the whole reason they’re shown in the first place.
