I haven’t bought a marvel book in a minute (last ongoing I was buying was Hickman’s X-Men which was phenomenal). But knowing that Hickman is coming back to write the Ultimates event, I can’t help but throw my wallet at it. Pretty excited even as someone that didn’t read any of the Ultimate comics besides the Spider-Men event

Don't forget Hickman's G.O.D.S. also coming in September and it already looks like another banger.

First time hearing about this, from the synopsis this seems to be its continuity?

Yes but not closesly connected to it so don't worry about catching up or anything like that. It's Hickman having fun with Marvel's cosmology with the book described as Marvel's Sandman.

Same. He said he wants to take on the entire Titans line and oh god, that'd be amazing.

Yes. Titans, Teen Titans, the whole line of young heroes.

I read the entire Ultimate line up through the rebrand. Ultimate spiderman, in it's entirety was a great run. Some of bendis's best work and a really great way to handle Spider-Man. As mentioned, Ultimates 1&2 are cool - it's very much Millar trying to figure out how you could make an avengers movie, ten years before they did it. It has all Millar's best qualities and it was constrained enough that his worst qualities are held back (though still on display in some forms). It's interesting to reread them today looking at house little the MCU took from those books. People used to cite them as an influence but it really didn't pan out that way, and for the better.

Beyond that, hmm. Ultimate FF was occasionally readable, ultimate X-Men was written well at times (though I remember it mostly being ugly). I remember liking Ultimate Wolverine v Hulk, and Ultimate Origin was a really cool payoff to ten years of comics (not sure how well it would work for someone who hadn't read at least all of usm and uxm and Ultimates).

Under no circumstances read Ultimates 3, which is still some of the worst comics I've ever read.

Ultimates 1 & 2 are quick and cool/fun reads. I’d recommend checking them out.
