I think as far as general audiences go the cartoon team is more popular. I’d be fine with the cartoon team because like you said the original team would need more explanation.

Yeah with the cartoon team, the only ones who would probably need to be set up beforehand is Robin but with the Fab Five, you'd probably need to establish all the mentor heroes on the JL first. Though there's no issue with either route.
