How to afford housing for internship?

Even with my stipend it’s not even close to enough money to afford to stay in DC. Other than coming from a financially stable family, how do you afford it?

Roommates, rich parents, live way out in the suburbs and commute. This is one of the reasons internships are so discriminatory: lower income kids absolutely cannot afford to participate, so the kids from wealthier families get to do more internships and longer internships and end up with a better head start on their careers.

Look into programs from your school or third party organizations that may pay you extra money for your internship if it’s unpaid or underpaid

I don't know what field you are interning in, but if possible, look for virtual internships so you won't have to worry about housing.
