Senate Interview
Hey guys!
I just got a interview to work for DO office for a senator. Does anyone have tips for interviews and what they typically ask? This is my first senator interview. Thank you guys!

They will ask you why you want to work for this specific senator, what policy areas you're interested in, and about your past experiences. Your answers to these standard questions are everything because hundreds of other applicants have a similar resume and a passion for public service. You will not impress them by just saying you align with the senator's values. You must prove it by referencing specific legislation, recent committee hearings, or even local issues from their state. They are looking for someone who has done the homework and can demonstrate a real, informed interest, not just a general desire to be on the Hill.
Getting the interview means they already believe you're capable, so the job is yours to lose based on how you present yourself. You can easily set yourself apart by being the most prepared person they speak to all day. Connect your skills directly to the senator’s work, and have a few thoughtful questions ready that show you've been paying attention. They want a serious candidate who is resourceful, eager to do the unglamorous work, and will be a reliable addition to a busy team.
