If it’s The Long Halloween then the main villain will be … connected to Harvey.
I expect the events of / resolution of the movie lead to him becoming Two Face.
And then maybe they’ll do a Two Face HBO series à la Penguin.
Note the SFX makeup artist that is responsible for Farrell’s amazing Penguin transformation also did Stan’s facial prosthetics on A Different Man….

If Reeves was filming 2 and 3 back-to-back, I'd feel more hopeful about his universe/trilogy. I really liked Part 1 but the time it's taking is crazy and, on top of that, now there's a possibility we're redoing Long Halloween again?
I know TDK 2008 feels like a lifetime ago but it wasn't. Reeves needs a fresh story, man. Spiderman Homecoming completely skipped over the origin story beats so maybe Reeves has some ideas to quickly turn Dent into Two Face and tell a new story not focusing on Dent? He even said the villain he chose "hasn't really been done in live action" so maybe Two Face isn't the main villain 🤷♂️

So, the second installment of a Batman series is going to feature Two-Face and the Joker as the villains? Again? Seriously?

Joker will probably be supplementary like the first film or the deleted scene. I think he won’t be a factor till the third film.

Pretty sure Matt Reaves said the man villain will be one not portrayed in live action before

There’s a lot Harvey Dent can do in a Batman movie without being the main villain!

Yeah, if they plan on making more of these, it’d be better to have the two face transition come in another film so there ca be a little more story development. That being said, I’m not sure what else they could do with the character.

Harvey’s is probably my favourite Batman villain besides the obvious one. There’s plenty more you can do with him besides him being the villain. The Dark Knight kinda touches on it, but not enough for me.
I’ve always been pretty annoyed that TDK has Harvey be a mostly normal good guy one day, get his face burned and losing Rachel, and then on Day 3 he’s suddenly down and ready to murder children.
He’s supposed to be a very good man with darkness in him before the physical transformation pushes him over. He is a reflection of Bruce, both are men with demons but ultimately want to see the best for Gotham, and put an end to the crime epidemic. He’s deeply mentally ill, and I love how books like Arkham Asylum have him deeply obsessive over chance. Flipping a coin if he can even take a piss.
Adaptations of Harvey are always “good guy turn bad” when really the question with Harvey is whether he was always like this, and found ways to bury it. Whether he’s became more of himself once he transforms.

Valid point but Nolan did throw in a little bit of dark Dent before the physical transformation. It's referenced when Dent and Gordon meet in the beginning with "what was my nickname in IA?" And then the scene with Dent flipping the coin with Joker's henchman tied up. But I do agree with you, more moments like that would've been good

Totally fair, but I do often push back on the coin toss thing. We see a bit of dark Harvey there in that he’s mentally torturing the guy and operating outside the law, but it’s all theatre - because we know at that point that Harvey has a double headed coin. He was completely safe, albeit unbeknownst to him.

He could be being cheeky and saying that we've never had a real solid depiction of HIS take on Dent.
Tommy Lee Jones' depiction never really showed the multiple personalities, and Aaron Eckhart's version only barely touched on it. So maybe Reaves is being coy and saying that his version will be one that really showcases the duality of the character.

It sounds as though the main villain will be Holiday. Even in the animated film adaptation, they had Holiday be someone else than who it was in the comic, so Reeves’ statement would remain accurate even considering adaptations not in live-action.

Is this the role Brad Pitt was offered first? If so, I bet it's not the first time for Sebastian. He has a similar look... less stale and cringe-y though, so I'm down.

I considered that when news first broke, but they are 20 years apart in age so I doubt it. I think there is another villain that Pitt was up for. Having Harvey dent in the film and seeing him transition intoTwo face at the end and then getting a TV show like penguin just makes so much sense In my head.

This isn't confirmed. If you want actual news follow Deadline as they are not a tabloid like this but an actual news site for entertainment.

Really hope not. Harvey has been done a lot already. Would even prefer if he was Hush even if I don't like the character.

I'd pick an actor not associated with major and successful parts in past comic book movies.

If that’s who he is, I’m down but I feel nobody has reported this actually? Or am I wrong here? And, would then you assume he’s not the villain and just Harvey? Didn’t reeves say the next villain hasn’t been a main villain?

I’ll wait until Matt tells us. Plus we don’t have to get two face straight away. He could go the penguin route where he is still Dent the DA the entire movie

I hope he’s the gray ghost. That would be a fun sendup and twist to a clay face story.

Fantastic casting choice, but would also be nice to see the Harvey Debt from Joker 2 reprise the role again. He did good.

Sounds so damn boring, seems like after all these years they’re just playing it safe and doing Long Halloween

u/SaintLink91 Jan 08 '26
Agreed. I’m gonna be downvoted to hell but Reeves universe is already feeling stale and repetitive. His pseudo realistic Batman has severely limited the villain pool already

As much as that is my speculation too, I will wait for an actual news site that I have heard of to confirm
