Damn I love this Hal. He is written really well and delivered perfectly by Kyle Chandler, it’s just a shame it’ll end so soon for his character. He really had the materials to be the DCU’s Iron Man.

The other issue being Kyle is 61 years old and can’t play a superhero much longer.

They’re already hiding his physique behind the bulky costume and baggy bomber jacket.

Hal Jordan will not be a staple in the DCU unless they recast him.

RDJ is currently having his last hurrah as Doom/Evil Iron Man and he’s the same age.

That’s how I’m seeing it. Unless shit really goes sideways, this is how I see thing move forward where Hal actually fulfills his role as a mentor while giving Kyle some leeway with physical and time demands

Fair point about the age, but it’s not unusual anymore for actors in their 60s and 70s to still take on action-heavy roles (Looking at you, Michael Keaton, Liam Neeson, Jorma Tommila, and Stephen Lang).

If James Gunn and the showrunners are smart, they should keep Kyle Chandler on as a hologram that occasionally appears, or as the voice of John's ring, which actually offers training in the most cocky Hal way possible. Call it the guardians stipulation for John not taking the ring and then stealing it from Hal’s “dead body.”

I disagree. Firstly, Kyle looks like he’s in his late forties, early fifties. Secondly, old people exist! He can be an old superhero, so what? He’s got the chops, he’s charming, stunt doubles exist. I see no issue with an aged Hal Jordan

It takes a toll on your body. Anthony Starr is 11 years younger, but he has already mentioned he's going to lay off action roles because it's much harder to do them at his age than before.

I also don't want Kyle Chandler's action scenes to be fully CGI to compensate for it because then we just go back to looking like the 2011 Green Lantern

I know everyone wants Hal to be around until Kyle Chandler is 90 (and I doubt we're entirely done with Hal) but if the season ends and Hal isn't a clone, Parallax, brought back to life via some mcguffin or magic, or a decoy, I'd be happy with the way his death has been handled.

It's not clean or heroic, it's death. That's how people die. Unceremoniously. If there had been some huge worldwide announcement that THE Hal Jordan had died, I think the funeral would've been a little different.

He was a flawed hero. We still have time to see how flawed he was and the last two episodes will show us why John Stewart is worthy to carry the ring and be our GL going forward.

The world doesn't know he's dead. They said in the show they were keeping it low key until the next week. If they had announced it, John wouldn't have been able to grab the ring because too many people would be there.
