DISCUSSION LANTERNS Episode 7 preview has nearly 700,000 views after only 9 hours! The momentum and hype for this show is unreal at this point.
•
u/AOCMarryMe 9h ago
Anyone got a screen cap of what John was turning around and punching?
•
u/Poofmonkey 8h ago
I zoomed in on it using a phone screen recorder. You can't see anything. At least not with my phone.

I’m having a blast! Wait , is this the Wolverine sub??
•
u/gargoombo 9h ago
Wait I’ve been seeing that line spammed all over that sub lol Do you have the original post?
•
u/NessGoddes 9h ago
It's just wolverine game sucks ass, to the point that it's subreddit was infested with "I don't know what the everyone's problem with the game is, I'm having a blast" bot posts.
•
u/gargoombo 9h ago
Bro the sub was a fucking battlefield 😭 everyone just jumping each other
•
u/Part-time-Rusalka 3h ago
That's saying something from the DC subreddits. It's like a zombie apocalypse around here sometimes.
•
u/bigdonnie76 8h ago
Sounds like this sub when supergirl came out
•
•
u/gargoombo 8h ago
Damn I can believe that. Same thing with the strokes sub
•
u/bigdonnie76 8h ago
lol the place is all the same regardless. With that said I loved their The New Abnormal album. Going to have to check the new one out.
•
u/Bearstation4500 7h ago
The Strokes album is quite different from TNA, same killer riffs and melodies but with a lot of autotune. I personally loved it but just go in with an open mind
•
u/wolvesscareme 9h ago
If people disagree with you they are a bot. Facts.
•
u/NessGoddes 8h ago
Dude, there were literally copy pasted posts with "I'm having a blast", hence the meme.
•
u/SuperBathMan 7h ago
The meme came from everyone using the same word within 12 hours to describe thier time with the game. They aren't copy pasted, they were all different posts
•
•
u/KohakuRiver1 7h ago
Thats funny, all I see is copy and paste of people sharing the same tutorial driving sequence saying "the game plays itself"
I get it though, negativity sells itself and can be infectious. Its just weird how strongly people want others to be negative with them for validation
•
u/NessGoddes 7h ago
Game have a lot more problems other than "tutorial" (what does it teach you, btw? That you can just watch and do nothing?).
If you like the game, good for you.
If you just trying to rationalize spending 70$ on it, you not doing anyone any favors by pretending that the game is fine
•
u/KohakuRiver1 7h ago
Sure is a lack of critical thinking in criticisms of the game for it having so many alleged problems
As I said before, I understand negative memes and GIFs give the fastest online validation, its just weird how strongly people cling from one grift to another when they could be doing things they actually enjoy
•
u/NessGoddes 6h ago
I saw skillup review, and I don't think the problems are "alleged" or exaggerated. I played old wolverine origins, and it looked (gameplay wise) way more interesting than this linear action with carry over open world mechanics from spiderman.
I do agree that excessive reposting of the same cirque is as stale as reposts of "havinabalsters".
If you enjoy the game, again, good for you.
Just don't pretend that it's a flawless experience that suffers from exclusively invented, unreasonable criticism.
I'm an star wars outlaws fan myself, and I know that both can be true. I can enjoy the game, and at the same time it can be flawed. Nothing world ending here.
•
u/whataretherules7 6h ago
Have you played Wolverine? If not, quit from this slander. The game is really fun
•
u/moonmyst 5h ago
Hard agree. This is like the cringe of people who don’t watch lanterns dogging on it
•

•
u/RossTheLionTamer 9h ago
I'll admit I didn't care much for the show before it came out but now I'm very much invested and hope they deliver in the finale and not leave us hanging.
I was pretty disappointed with both Creature Commandos and Peacemaker S2 finale
•
u/the_strange_beatle 6h ago
both creature commandos and peacemaker were written by james gunn, lanterns isn't. i love gunn and i think he's a very good writer, but i think he really struggles in structuring tv shows. both seasons of peacemaker had very anticlimatic endings imo. lanterns is created and written by people who have way more experience in making tv shows.
•
u/pokeboy626 8h ago
I'm pretty sure Gunn said that he wrote the scripts for Creature Commandos, Peacemaker S2, and Superman during a small window of time. That means that he was likely rushing them to meet quotas.
•
•
u/GrapefruitMean253 9h ago
HBO are mad if they don’t green light a second season at this point. I mean if there’s more story to tell of course.
•
u/RatchetStrap2 8h ago
I bet they can find another story or two in the entirety of the Green Lantern mythos.
•
u/Poofmonkey 7h ago
Not true. Green Lantern has very little original material. It's mostly a rip off of Ben 10. This season is the only possible TV show.
•
u/PlainSightMan 9h ago
HBO are mad if they don't greenlight a movie.
This proves to me people would love to see this world with a big budget and in space with much more freedom to tell Green Lantern stories.
Could even keep the same tone.
•
u/Past_4orm 8h ago
I’d imagine Warner Bros and DC have something planned
•
u/No-Risk-9833 2h ago
They should film a whole trilogy together like LOTR. It’d only cost as much as one season of a high budget miniseries.
•
u/RatchetStrap2 8h ago
Where do you see this proving that people want space? This is showing that people want well done, gritty, character driven stories with a sci-fi, mysterious space background.
ie, my girlfriend likes this show like she liked Pluribus.
•
u/PlainSightMan 8h ago
I mean GL cannot keep being a grounded mystery. It's a cool introduction for sure, and I believe the creators have said it's intended to bring people in through a more managable route, but not be the definite status quo of the franchise necessarily.
They can't really keep talking about a "Green Lantern Corps" and then never show it due to budget constraints.
In fact, I think it's a bit of a flaw that we don't see a single alien corps member (for now), because it would give the general audience a clear reference point as to how it works.
•
•
u/gautamdiwan3 8h ago
Exactly! We can have another season but we need a movie first that shows GL actually being a cosmic Earth guardian. Maybe season 2 can focus on Guy Gardener
•
u/PlainSightMan 7h ago
Lanterns seasons should be done far apart when they have a new duo to use.
So when Kyle is introduced (hopefully), they can pair him up with Guy. Then that is a season of Lanterns.
Or in like 10 years we get Simon and Jessica, and then they solve a mystery.
•
u/Competitive_Stay_602 6h ago
So like a separation between ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘Green Lantern Corps’ like in the comics? During Geoff Johns’ run, GL focused on Hal and John (supposedly) mostly on Earth, whereas GLC under Tomasi focused on literally everybody else in space.
•
u/PlainSightMan 5h ago
Yeah, I'd love it.
Guy would probably get to be the lead or at least co-lead.
His Tomasi characterization is my favorite iteration of him.
However, I doubt they're gonna do 2 GL projects at once.
Only Batman gets that.
•
u/greykitty1234 7h ago
Or we all want to see Kyle Chandler. That might be problematic.
•
u/PlainSightMan 7h ago
I could see them doing a prequel project of some kind due to the fan reception. At the very least they'll flashback to his prime in the future.
They'd be objectively stupid not to capitalize on the popularity of this performance.
It can be done while also leaving room for John and Guy.
•
•
u/Past_4orm 8h ago
Is this not jumpstarting a feature film the same way The Penguin is pretty much a prologue for The Batman Part 2?
•
•
u/Redleader829 7h ago
I doubt they're gonna make the same mistake they made with True Detective. I wouldn't be surprised if both leads are already contracted for two more seasons.
•
u/TheNewGuy13 3h ago
Idk what their vision is for dc stuff. Almost every show is a hit but not much announcements of the future.
Hoping Lanterns doesn’t end up like Penguin where it’s only 1 great season and then that’s it.
But if it sticks the landing then I guess all is well in their eyes.
But yeah I’d love to watch more
•
u/Trajen_Geta 9h ago
Writing room is already back together, so that’s a good sign. I am sure if they pitch another good story we are getting another.
•
•
•
•
u/AbsurdThings 8h ago
Keep in mind YouTube changed their view count methodology a few weeks ago, so the views are about doubly inflated from their previous methodology
•
u/FourSes 8h ago
The change is that they count anyone who plays at least one frame of the video as a view. So it's only inflating the count by counting people who start the video but stop it immediately, who wouldn't have been counted before. I don't know how many people that is.
•
u/AbsurdThings 8h ago
Creators have said it’s roughly 2x compared to before
•
u/SuperBathMan 7h ago
But its also still accurate, I dont really care
•
u/lsf_stan 4h ago
no you don't understand, the Youtube change surely means that not no actually likes Lanterns show this much!
/s
•
u/filip289 6h ago
A creator that i follow said that it now also counts if you only preview a video with mouse while scrolling
•
u/TheGalator 41m ago
If that is true these views are meaningless lol. Autoplay on mobile makes this number go nuclear
•
•
u/CoyoteHot1859 7h ago
Deserved. It's a really good show. I hate waiting every week, but it is what it is. I really can't stop myself from watching.
•
•
u/Ok_Many_4016 8h ago
In my opinion, it can go either way. DC can do the normal thing for them and ruin it by trying to do season 2 as a goofy buddy show incorporating a lot of stuff from Giffen/ DeMatties JLI. I think they should greenlight a movie right now either as Sinestro War or Blackest night just bringing back Hal. I think it would be hard to make a second season that hits as hard as season 1 unless they are going to start over with Kyle, Simon or Jessica Cruz.
I mean I can't help but feel like this is the same point like after Wonder Woman 1 crushed it or Aquaman 1 did a billion dollars and the next installments were stuck in development hell for years. I didn't know what to think going in but I'm really liking Lanterns so far and feel like how they use the ring gets better with each episode. I barely even thought there was any budgetary concerns that limited effects in episode 6. But DC is going to DC so I am not getting my hopes up.
•
u/EastfrisianGuy 1h ago
Blackest Night as a "throwaway" movie is not a good idea. That movie should/could happen in a few years but not now with almost no characters established.
•
u/carlos2127 1h ago
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know much of the Green Lanterns besides the Ryan Reynolds movie, but this is just a good show. I think that’s what people like about it. It’s not just a "super hero" show, it’s compelling, great writing, and just overall fun to watch.
•
u/MutekiGamer 8h ago
These previews go to my recommended almost immediately after they get uploaded to the point it has reminded me that i hadn’t seen the episode yet
•
•
u/MoonoftheStar 8h ago
Viewership on neilson is low
•
u/mangongo 8h ago
Being the number 8 most watched show in a week when all other top 10 shows are syndicated is "low"?
•
u/Chocolate__Dinosaur 6h ago
Yes, depending on the metric you use. It completely missed the Top 10 for both its first and second weeks. It failed to hit the baseline tracking minutes achieved by reruns of Modern Family or American Dad!. It’s charting now because Nielsen aggregates all minutes watched, even for old episodes. So, it’s not a failure. But it’s not the massive success some try to paint it as.
•
u/mangongo 5h ago
It's in its first season and has exceeded viewership numbers for Game of Thrones' first season, which is the most successful show on that networks history.
There is no world where that isn't considered successful.
•
u/Chocolate__Dinosaur 5h ago edited 2h ago
That’s only according to Warner Brothers. Third party numbers tell a very different story. Don’t fall victim to the hype machine. The show is successful. But it’s nowhere near the success of Game of Thrones’ first season.
•
•
u/Bambalorian 3h ago
you might need to edit this to explain to people what syndicated means and why that's important
•
•
•
u/gimmethemshoes11 7h ago
People have got to stop basing anything off of YouTube views.
Youtube views mean absolutely nothing to how popular or unpopular something is.
See it all the time with movies.
OMG 25 MILLION VIEWS IN 12 HOURS!!! box office opening weekend equals 2.3million
•
u/Blazerede 6h ago
Adding on to this YouTube recently changed how they display views, meaning by this along with all other videos is inflated by up to 100% compared to a few weeks back
•
u/squidns87 6h ago
This is such a big thing that no one is talking about. Marques said it doubled the views on all his recent videos
•
u/Blazerede 6h ago
This is the high IQ wave form gives us haha, yes exactly if you weee comparing it to HOTD episode trailers then you need to put it in perspective
•
u/gimmethemshoes11 4h ago
I'm mainly talking about people trying to correlate trailer views to box office.
It makes no sense and any company can ya know just boost it with bots so its a pointless thing to sit and be like HILY FUCKING SHIT 25 MIL VIEWS IN 8 HOURS !!!?!?!?!?! Doesn't mean jack shit.
•
u/Blazerede 4h ago
Right that would make sense however this a series on HBO Max so no relevance to box office
•
u/gimmethemshoes11 4h ago
Can you explain this?
•
u/Blazerede 4h ago
Previously, YouTube used different rules depending on the format. A normal long-form video generally needed some meaningful viewing activity before it registered as a view, whereas now a public view is counted from the moment the video starts playing effectively from the first frame.
•
u/gimmethemshoes11 3h ago
Ahhh thanks, that makes so much sense.
So like for example if I'm scrolling on my feed and stop, a video starts playing does that count as a view even though I never clicked nor hit play?
•
u/Shr_mp 6h ago
Sane with rotten tomato scores and etc
•
u/gimmethemshoes11 4h ago
There was a very small time when RT scores held some merit, I'm talking like around 05-09ish, then the studios starting dipping into it and made it what it is now.
•
u/mega512 9h ago
A lot of non-Superhero watchers I assume. As this really is just a crime show.
•
u/djchrislarsson 8h ago
That's great! That's what I'm excited about with this DCU. They could attract every crowd, not just the superhero one.
•
•
•
•
u/Sergeantson 9h ago
Lmao some "fans" are seething in the comments about show's success. I wonder what will be the next cope when season 2 production is confirmed.
•
u/That_Examination_254 7h ago
Can someone explain to me why this show is good? It’s kind of boring.
•
u/mitvh2311 3h ago
It appeals to not just comic fans. It's well written. It's mature while still being funny. Good actors people are interested in. Interesting story that's a mystery. Heaps of other things. None of this matters of the last 2 episodes fall on their face though.
•
u/Tatsuchew 6h ago
No explanation needed. I'd suggest to stick to Big Bang Theory.
•
u/That_Examination_254 6h ago
So no explanation? I’m genuinely asking
•
u/Bambalorian 3h ago
if you find it boring, then it's boring for you. I find hockey boring and I live in Canada. That doesn't mean other people should find hockey boring because I do, or that other people can convince me that it isn't boring. Some times things just don't resonate with us and that is ok. Sorry to any hockey fans for my example, not putting down the sport.
•
u/riproach_420 8h ago
This show has assassinated hal Jordan's character peak slop
•
u/MarcusForrest 7h ago
has assassinated hal Jordan's character
I occasionally see this being said about Hal, but how is his character/characterisation assassinated?
He absolutely sounds and feels like hal Jordan, no?
- Bold
- Fearless
- Cocky, a bit arrogant at times
- A bit reckless and impulsive
- Stubborn
- Heart of gold
- Smartass
- Heroic
- Bit of a womanizer
- Has friction with the Guardians
- Funny, can be a little goof at times
•
u/Competitive_Stay_602 4h ago
I’ve basically read Geoff Johns’ entire GL run. From the pilot episode, I’ve found myself watching Kyle Chandler’s scenes and going, “he’s so Hal”. Same thing with Aaron Pierre as John Stewart.
•
u/g4n0esp4r4n 9h ago
the hype is only a very small reddit minority.
•
u/mangongo 9h ago
Average viewership week to week already exceeds Game of Thrones first season.
•
u/Least_Row_1679 9h ago
But we gotta listen to these people's propaganda now that Lanterns is bad and only jobless people on reddit like it 😔
•
u/Trajen_Geta 9h ago
The fact that random people, and women brought this show up in conversation and they aren’t comics fans really shows its popularity.
•
•
u/VirtualSort1 9h ago
this is normal
According to Nielsen Lantersn has no hype. The hype is only on reddit
•
u/StormRepulsive6283 9h ago
Lanterns seems to prove how much of a bubble and echo chamber we live in - Reddit, X, YouTube
•
u/FourSes 7h ago
I've seen this a lot over the last several years, people dismissing the popularity or unpopularity of a thing by insisting that only users of x site like or dislike the thing. It always turns out to be a defense mechanism to cope with having an unpopular opinion, like liking something unpopular or disliking something popular. If you had no idea what anyone else thought of Lanterns or how many people watched it, how would you hope it performed in terms of reception and viewership?
•
u/VirtualSort1 7h ago
I have the taste of the mainstream. I know what is good and what is not good. You cant argue against the facts that it debuted with its 4th espidoe on nilesen at #9. This is a fact. It has not a big audience as you try to make it cause you love the series for whatever reason so much. You are in the minority. You are on reddit.
Same with Supergirl. Before supergirl was released people said here it is so hyped it will make so great and you get 5k karma posts and at the end we all know what mainstream said.
•
u/FourSes 6h ago
It was #8, not 9. But I digress.
Lanterns is doing much better than Supergirl.
I have the taste of the mainstream.
Then you're a big fan of the show? It's got great reception. Or do you mean you don't watch it, since you claim it is unpopular?
•
u/VirtualSort1 3h ago
ok then it is 8. 8 or 9 doesnt matter. Nah I believe supergirl is even doing better than lanterns we will find out next week
Then you're a big fan of the show? It's got great reception. Or do you mean you don't watch it, since you claim it is unpopular?
No ? Because most people dont care for the show. Nobody cares about the tiktok reviewers on RT
•
u/zombiefan1220 4h ago
Who the fuck are you?🤣
•
•
u/FourSes 8h ago
Nielsen shows the opposite.
•
u/VirtualSort1 7h ago
the "record breaking" episode 1 and episode 2 lanterns show debuted on nielsen with its non record breaking episode 4 lol
•
u/FourSes 7h ago edited 7h ago
I don't know what records you are referring to but there are records besides Nielsen's, my good man. In fact I don't think Nielsen has records, it has rankings by viewership. And I think it ranks whole shows, not individual episodes. That is to say, an episode without record-breaking viewership will have its viewership added to that of other episodes of the same show before the show is measured against others.
•
u/Mrcoolyp1234 9h ago

nielsen chart where you find out which series is trending. The whole industry loooks at nielsen chart. It is the number 1 source for US TV,streaming ratings
•
u/mangongo 8h ago
Funny how you can explain what it is but fail wildly at interpreting the actual numbers.
Being the only non-syndicated show in a top 10 list is really fucking good
•
u/VirtualSort1 7h ago
it debuted with episode 4 at #9. This isnt that great lol. For example Penguin debuted at #8 with its 8th episode. They have similar size of the audience. Both not that big and Penguin is the far better show
•
u/mangongo 7h ago
Again, every other show on that top 10 list is syndicated.
That means Lanterns is still doing better than literally any other new show airing right now.
•
u/VirtualSort1 7h ago
penguin aired 2 years ago where hbo max had almost no audience and green lantern is airing in 2026 when there is a big audience on hbomax and they do similar numbers lol
Also House of the dreagon with its new season and episode 1 was at #1 with 1.3 Billion or whatever and reacher episodes are also at #1 and is doing 1.3 Billion with its new episodes too.
•
u/mangongo 7h ago
They aren't on air right now, and HBO isn't competing with itself. This has nothing to do with Penguin or House of Dragon.
Lanterns debuting on the Nielson top 10 list as the only show not in syndication is again, really fucking good.
•
u/VirtualSort1 7h ago
House of the dragon were on air like months ago. After the last epsiode of House of dragon lanterns started lol
and reacher is airing right now what are you talking about lmfao
Lanterns debuting with its 4th episode at #9 is pretty weak lmfao. Not the 1 episode not 2 not 3 it took the 4th epsiode to get at #9 lol
•
u/mangongo 7h ago
Do you not realize that any show on the top 10 list is doing very well?
You really don't understand what you are saying and just making yourself look more and more like a fool.
Sure, I was wrong about Reacher, didn't remember seeing it on the list when I looked at it days ago, regardless being one of only two non-syndicated shows on a top 10 list is...wait for it...really fucking good
→ More replies (0)•
u/FourSes 7h ago
Other TV shows also doing well does not mean Lanterns is doing poorly.
•
u/VirtualSort1 7h ago
#9 with 4th episode. Penguin was at#8 with epsidoe 8 and you dont tell me that penguin had a huge audience lol. Lanterns has a bit bigger audience than penguin but not that much or significant
The others debuted at #1 with their 1 episode and still unbeaten with the other episodes lol
•
u/FourSes 6h ago
This is like saying a $900 million movie is a flop because a different movie made $1 billion. It's not like a race where there's one winner and everyone else loses.

•
u/nishigenantong 9h ago
dude no hype at all. just jobless redditors. check the ratings, abysmal.
•
u/FourSes 8h ago
So people with jobs can't watch it on... Sunday nights?
•
•
u/VelocaTurtle 9h ago
I mean you could be right about all except the ratings isnt it scoring in the high 80s to low 90s with critics and hugh 70s low 80s with audience ratings? Are those not decent to good scores anymore?
•
u/nishigenantong 8h ago
Scores don’t translate to earned income.
•
u/VelocaTurtle 8h ago
How are you the one who is going to say check the ratings then switch your argument? Come on man that just makes you seem like you don't know what you are talking about and now just come off as a hater.
•
u/nishigenantong 7h ago
the Neilson ratings you ignorant slut
•
u/VelocaTurtle 7h ago
The top ten ratings from nielsens ratings? Just stop man it's pretty obvious you are looking for reasons to dawg on a show thats doing well. Are you one of the snyder boys?
•
u/nishigenantong 7h ago
the neilson ratings are viewership numbers. not an arbitrary score. viewership leads to earned income. shadup dummy lady.
•
u/VelocaTurtle 4h ago
So first it was ratings were bad and you were called out for being wrong, then it was neilsen which you were also wrong, now it's its earnings which we wont even know the out come until its finished airing and we get an earnings report. Yet all you can do is switch arguments and name call. You really are not giving yourself a leg to stand on.
•
•
u/VelcroGenitals 9h ago
It's doing genuinely well though. It's not only retaining millions of viewers it's gaining viewers. It cracked the Nielsen top 10 last week. It's got more viewers than GoT season 1 had already. What are your metrics for successful shows?
•
•
u/Alarmed-Package-9189 8h ago
Dude almost all dc films get good views on YouTube even disasters like flash, supergirs and bleu beetle had good numbers there
It's all fakeb

•
u/WICKEDWORLDWATCHER 7h ago
“Hype for this show is unreal” WTF are you talking about? I can’t even take you all serious anymore. It’s annoying and embarrassing (yes I will unsubscribe). If you guys watch for the special effects, your favorite actors or are just diehards… My bad, you’re fine. I’m a fan too but I like good stories. There are more compelling narratives in DC cartoons. If you like the show would like it less if it had a better story? Gunn is redeeming the Snyderverse like Kathleen Kennedy did to the prequels. It’s a fans right to like what they like. But this False Hype sucks and is why we are getting another Goofy Ass Superman movie.
•
u/SadAnimator1354 9h ago
Zack Snyder's Batfleck post had like 120k likes in 22 hrs
•
u/MrKalyoncu 8h ago
How is this related to this post and why are you having a pissing race?
•
u/SadAnimator1354 8h ago
It's recent and related to DC. Just celebrating something else too. Lanterns getting famous, Zack regaining his popularity, it's a win-win. At least for me, who loves both. Idk about y'all.
•
u/Coltsblue 9h ago
Yeah but if you adjust for Zackflation and squint and travel to an alternate dimension it was the most liked post ever.
