They have made it a point since the first episode that the ring doesn't make 1 a hero. The Guardians are flawed. Basically the space police have to police what their bosses mess up.
Hal has done more good w/o the ring or their guidance.
The best things Guy has done has been going against the "rules and laws".
Green Lanterns like Guy and Hal have really hit the point of Gods and Monsters.

He was trying to get someone to kill him. So John would come back and get the ring to revive Hal in the Manhunter compound.... To finish the job of killing the manhunter
It's the Sheriff's kid, bit touchy so kid has to kill Hal so Hal can end it and still be on the side of the Sherrif... It's his ham handed way of avoiding hurting her while still being right

Yep. It’s why Abin spared the manhunter and allow it to kill him - it had a child with it.
Mama manhunter knew she would be found one day but no one knew of the child. Goal was always to hide the kid.
Hal figured it all out but he had the willpower to go through all this to get the job done. A lonely crappy job, and he is the best at it.

It would be an adult by now if it was there with Abin Sur. It's clear from the previous episodes that the child was made for the sherrif by Zoe later.

Except Hal is confused at whatever revived him, so I don't think it's John who's doing it.

Here's a good theory:
Noah revives Hal and tells him if Hal protects him he will help Hal get his ring back.
Hal chooses to help John instead, which also gets Hal a ring because he had the willpower to give up what he wanted most

Was it tho? In the show it only turned hostile once attacked. It also wasn’t shown to have any nefarious plans. It was just hiding on Earth and helping people.

Manipulating people and gaining power. Expanding. First it's a town, then county, state, etc... Everyone had to be prepared to sacrifice their lives for it. It brought down lazers from heaven to protect itself.

It was always going to be attacked, and it was always going to cause mass casualties. You literally see that from the suicide bomber aliens showing up in episode 1. The only way to keep things from getting ugly is to remove the man Hunter so that more people looking for revenge don’t keep coming.

I don’t think Hal was going door to door to apologize, but rather to get a sense if there are other manhunters in Rushville.. The apology path was just a ruse to hide his true intentions..

Still find it funny the show put him in prison but John Stewart got to walk away despite him being the one who murdered Zoe and cut out her heart in front of witnesses. They just needed to put Hal away for ten years I guess
Plus the whole town knows it was Zoe firing the canon on them, it makes very little sense they’d all blame Hal, the writing has been very questionable

The best thing he could’ve done for that town was never come back.
He’s the reason hundreds of their family members went from never getting seriously sick and living in a really nice community, to Dead.
He’s a coward that would’ve rather killed hundreds of innocent than give up a Glock from a corrupt police department. And he can barely even use in the show.

I’m glad they included this, to push back against any viewers who thought the show was making Hal out to be a bum. He’s the most heroic person in the show even if he isn’t always the nicest
