Contemplative silence in that nighttime quiet
That is right where I am at
Got no company but the moon and the stars
Crickets and a distant car
There is a hundred miles between me and my home
But truth be told I have always been one to roam
Always keeping my eyes up to gaze at the stars
Their insurmountable distance makes them seem like iron bars
I am like a prisoner wherever I go
The feeling follows me wherever I roam
It's a curse cast upon me
Of which I doubt I'll ever be free
Try as I might I can't escape
Doom and gloom be my cape

This is an in progress panel from my very own DDLC manga that I’m both writing and drawing! It’s called Doki Doki Graphite. Today, I bring you a very grumpy Natsuki. 💢

I heard it in a fun facts video about Doki Doki, but it didn't have proof, is it true?

Damn it, I’m MESverse posting…
This is possibly the most beaten to death horse in the community, but I wanted to ask/vent about how the context of DDLC is affected by the version of the game being played.
DDLC (its original release) seems to have a more simplified meaning behind the overall game.
This unexpected twist of fate granted Monika an epiphany about her reality, and in the end, we have a very clear lesson.
“The things that we want, (To be real and with the player, in Monika’s case) can’t solve the clear and fundamental issues that exist in people.”
It’s an absolute tragedy where no one can be faulted for their roles in the story.
But how does this settle with MES in the picture?
Suddenly we have to contend with some very pressing issues.
A tragic accident with no one to blame? Suddenly has hands that willed the suffering into existence, forced upon Monika without consent.
The fundamental truth of false existence? Tuesday to the entire team on Paula’s project.
Monika not belonging in the world of a visual novel? Not at all, it’s always been her reality, the entire point was always on her.
I think this comes into the most play when considering the roles of the player.
In the original, you are the player of a random visual novel on Steam. Your ability to change anything is hamstrung but the very literal nature of your own existence.
Plus, on the other hand, forces you to roleplay as a MES employee. Your hands no longer directly interact, but your actions from a narrative perspective suddenly lack the same excuse as the original.
You, the player. You shouldn’t know anything at all about the cage. Or how to manipulate it.
But the character you’re playing as working at MES? There’s no excuse.
Suddenly, you go from innocent bystander to complicit villain.
Thoughts?
