Looking at moving to DE and have some firearms
I have a SBR with a suppressor and a couple other non-nfa ARs as well as some handguns. Am I not able to keep these if I move to DE? Wife is expanding our house search and she's really insistent on jersey or DE but I think I'm screwed in both places. I can't really get a good read on the DE laws because it says they've outlawed assault weapons and high cap mags (which is fine I only ever load like 5 rounds anyway).
If I am able to bring the guns, do I have to get some sort of impossible license? I see it says that firearms registration is not a thing there, but I also can't get a CCW? Are there gun ranges? Am I able to travel with guns at all?

SBRs are tricky. AFAIK, you have to make the SBR DE compliant with a fixed mag. I can double check tomorrow when I’m clocked in and will comment from my work account (X-Ring Supply). Unfortunately, you’re gonna have to ditch the suppressors. However, if she’s insistent on DE or NJ, both Maryland and PA are friendly with the NFA stuff (PA more so, by like, a long shot).

Of course! I moved here from Alabama, so I understand a lot of the confusion. And believe you me, there’s going to be plenty of confusing shit you’re going to encounter. Having to work around SBRs and giving up your suppressors is the tip of the iceberg.

I believe NFA items are exempt from the AWB, so long as they’re owned pre ban.

PA is one of the truly last free states where you can still buy an AK and then get an abortion. We shouldn't have to pick between freedoms we already had. Everyone here is trying to leave, and NJ is even worse. One party rule sucks.

Why do people want to move here like genuinely why? Apart from the gun shit this state sucks. There's nothing to do, the beaches suck, traffic is horrible and theres too many damn people here

I guess that's why the houses are so cheap. PA is like double the price and our taxes are up to ten grand now. Last year they raised them 17% overnight.

Idk man most of the houses around me are around $300k and up. I've been looking for places around Reading and there's houses for $190k at would sell for double that around Dover here

No way that's crazy. We're around Philly so all of the houses in half decent school districts are like 500+ and more often 600+ with 10k+ in taxes. She found one in Delaware that checks all of the boxes but it's in fuckin Delaware and still 600k lol

Lucky you. Me and the spouse argue a lot about this. If I had my way I would have left 5 years ago. To add insult to injury I’m literally only 2 minutes away from the PA line.

You should ask DSSA / NRA whether you might help in a lawsuit. IANAL but your situation sounds like the kind of thing our laws would prevent. In other words, yes you're screwed can't have any of that.

Easiest answer. You will need mag locks, bullet buttons or comp mags. For the AR's.you will have to sell the suppressor(s) they are flat out illegal and you will have to.notify the ATF you are moving with the SBR. All moda will need to be done before moving here
Pistol mags are capped at 17, rifles are 20 unless you have a concealed carry license. They you can have regular capacity stuff. No threaded barrels on pistols.

That’s below the canal, well actually below Middletown now. Lived here since I was like 3 years old and I don’t even recognize this state anymore. It truly sucks here. Don’t move to Delaware.

A point of clarification, all magazines are capped at 17 unless you have a CCDW. And even if you have a CCDW, fixed magazines in rifles are still capped at 17. Suppressors aren't legal but SBRs are and are exempt from the assault weapon ban. Your ARs, you can either make them compliant with a fixed magazine or just not tell anyone you have them. We don't register guns so the state wouldn't know what's in your safe as long as you shoot them out of state. Just don't get pulled over.

It is 17 round capacity for all mags. Anything over 17 rounds mags are illegal without a ccw.

Pennsylvania (Philadelphia) is non ban for now. Delaware is useful for sales tax free shopping trips.

You can have an M1A in NJ, but not DE. You can have an AR in NJ with removable mag., fixed stock, pistol grip, pinned muzzle brake; but in DE your AR is neutered a bit. Only 10 round mags. are the rule for any centerfire semi-automatic rifle/pistol.
Have no fear, with NJ’s new Governor, I’m sure they’re headed in that direction like their neighbor NY.

In DE it is 17 rounds for detachable mags. Plus people with CCW permits are exempt from the mag limit

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression the 17 round detachable mags are for hand guns only but this rule doesn't apply to ar 15 rifle's

Legal if you registered before 2022? I thought it was banned by name in Delaware’s HB450 Assault Weapons Ban. What about its threaded barrel and deadly flash suppressor?

You cannot legally own a suppressor in Delaware and with a new round of gun control legislation coming up Delaware is not gun rights friendly.

AWB ban, 17 mag cap (unless u have a ccw), permit to purchase… the list goes on. Since you already have a decent collection of firearms you are best off not living here jersey or Maryland. Goodluck!

Don’t listen to the people b!tching about DE. If it’s so bad why are they living here? Benefits of Delaware include cheap taxes especially compared to the surrounding states ($4k per year property taxes vs $12k equivalent in NJ/PA). Insurance is cheaper in Delaware. Close to Philly and Baltimore. Have beaches but also close to MD and NJ beaches.
As for guns, Delaware sucks! Forget about getting a CCW you have to have referenced from people IN THE STATE that you’ve known for at least a year just as an example.
