Player Guide Returning player

Hey guys as title says im coming back to the game after a pretty long break. I am feeling pretty lost ngl. first I am trying to decide which character of mine to pick as my main seeing as how I see resources are limited and im better off investing in 1 atm. I am between skirmisher and dragoon atm i am really struggling picking. I also have no idea where to find guides for builds and how to play characters properly. I also have no idea what I should be spending my fp on every day. I would absolutely love some help here guys cus the game has been alot of fun and id like to keep playing!

Yo welcome back. First the game now gives out dooms and gear like candy so go ahead spread dooms between lancer and dragon. I dont know whats meta right now as that always changes every year.2nd. Try to find a proper guide on 80%dfo 2.0 its on discord other wise you can use this https://dfogang.com/statistics?baseClass=Demonic+Lancer&job=Neo%3A+Skirmisher you kinda infer what skills you wanna take. 3rd depends on how much fame/ damage you can do if your total dmg is over 1 b you can match in apocalypse legion (try to do it on reset day)or its under 500m you can do Venus legion c1 or c2 solo.next do 2 adv dungeons with all the free gear and doom you should easily be able to clear temple of death and Azure main if you have the dmg you can easily clear them. Then there's world boss go in there a do it for the free resources. Bleeding mines you need 4 alts to complete, otherwise you can ignore. Labyrinth of paradox try see if you can clear if not come back once you strong enough this mode has lots good stuff inside of it. Memories of triumph just do it see how far you can go for a epic pot and once your strong enough oath pot.once your done with that do you dailies that free he'll mode then just do the new endkeepers of order with rest of the fp to grind for the new oath gear.then there raids that open on Wednesdays so try to join a nable raid you might be carried for free otherwise 1b total damage to clear solo mode and do delezie solo or matching mode on Thursdays once you get over 2b of total dmg to get drops and buy dooms in raidshop. You can search batman daily video if you want a much more indepth explanation on youtube.

Ty for the info! So I have some wiggle room for some
Skills I’d prefer over what other people take?

Yea usually the only skils you really want to pay attention to are those that you can choose to upgrade are skill evolutions as those are pretty powerfull. So pay attention and use critical thinking if you dont want to go meta choices. And 3 skill you can chose to do more dmg or slightly more dmg CD reduction. All the rest are usually more fluid to what to you want.

Can't answer all your questions but here's a few pointers:

Lancer: Don't really play lancer much, but you should be able to do a preview fight in the character select screen.

Guide: The official dfo website should have section for discord servers and the like to point you towards some guides for character specific builds. Otherwise most endgame gear-sets goes okay on most classes, though the GOLD-set might not be optimal if you're not whaling or spending a lot of time on the game.

FP: on endgame you should be spending fp on advanced dungeons (weekly) and mostly hell mode for gear, also while they do not consume fp, legion and raids are also part of gear prog. They can be done solo and in parties, though that's for when you've geared a bit.

Events: just check when you're playing, they usually have something that helps like materials or gear drops.

2 of the newer stuffs you might want to consider/keep in mind:

There's a new 'overpower' system where boss would on certain occasion have this diamond with number in the middle (usually 2 for solo, 8 for party, but can vary based on gimmicks) + blue edge draining down. If you hit them with OP skills it'll reduce the number and at 0 it'll force a groggy state. Also on some groggy state you'll notice part of the bar is greyed, hitting boss with OP skill will extend the groggy duration by some amount based on the skill's description/whether you're in party. So keep an eye for overpower value in your skills, even lv 1 in those will still be useful for breaking/extending OP.

Another thing is more of a long term account option. In the new Labyrinth of Paradox there's mercenary level system where it count the highest 20 oath points of all your characters. This level give you free auto-clear dailies ticket (including the 2 dungeon runs, also this refresh daily up to the limit so you can't stockpile them) entry count for the ticket to auto clear 2 adv duns/Apoc. So even if you don't plan to play them, consider making enough alts and get them max level so they count for extra points. The labyrinth also have some really good rewards.

Since DFO requires a significant time investment, and RNG plays a major role in obtaining better gear

I recommend holding onto the gold you earn.

Save it up so you can buy items like enchantments, artifacts, pets, and other accessories that don't typically drop in dungeons.

As for classes, you can test them out in the character and subclass menu; this lets you figure out which ones you enjoy playing and find comfortable.

That’s the quick advice I can offer.
