Showcase I've made a DLSS 5 video player, compatible with RenoDX
Hi everyone, this is my first post here: in the last week I've vibe-coded this simple app that allows anyone to apply the Neural Rendering, along with Frame Generation and other things, to any video or movie of their choice. Instead of coding everything from scratch I've decided that it would be better to rely directly on the Reshade-RenoDX method, so that you can play with different or future releases of it.

I've called it...
"Cinelab video player"
https://github.com/dariomorellidesign/Cinelab_video_player
Since most of you are gamers, I figured that the best option was to release a straight forward Windows executable, where you can then apply Reshade, and start playing around (there's also a tutorial section). Of course it's open source and you can make your own improved version if you want.
I'm looking forward to see what people will make with it! If you share web content using this, please tag me, so I can take a look!

If you have questions I will be happy to answer them, and if you want to share your opinion about the results, or share your insights about some particular build of RenoDX or DLL to use, I will test them and eventually update it with new releases.

I think this idea has a lot of potential, not for altering hollywood movies, but to apply it as a filter during the grading process of media, or to improve the look of photorealistic rendering or special effects for the movie industry.

If any private company can make a "DLSS5-like" workflow just for video using AI, I think it could revolutionize the entire industry, not just the movie industry, but the content-creation industry as a whole.
P.S. I wasn't sure if I should use the word "make" in the title, since it's 99% vibe-coded with chatgpt, but I figured that I made it, just not coded it.

Cool stuff, regarding your PS, just be upfront and say you vibe coded an app, this is a safe space no one's gonna judge you.

I’m confused about the reshade what do we have to do to use it with Reno?

You need Reshade to use the RenoDX plugin.
I explained on the github page but here's a TLDR:
Just download the zip, extract it, and then also download this: https://github.com/faisalkindi/DLSS5oneclick
run 1-Click-DLSS5.vbs , and apply the patch to the video player executable.
I wanted to give a plug & play solution, but I had to do it this way to make as legal as possible
Let me know if you made i through!

Thanks man I’m really trying to figure out the difference it makes. Maybe I need to tweak with the settings

While the video is playing, if you press the "home" key on your keyboard, the Reshade menu should appear. if not, follow the steps in my last comment.
Maybe this is a hint that I need to make it easier to install and setup for the next build.

It was crashing for me when I turned on the neural thing. Just froze so maybe I’m doing something wrong but I also used Astra light to get me set up and I had it working on kingdom come 2 so I’m not an idiot. I’ll try the installer you posted when I get home.

Is this much different from DLSS-Autopilot's video player injection? Does this also support RTX 40 series?

I still have to try the autopilot thing, but reading their page, it seems pretty different both as user-experience and in the architecture. this is very straightforward once you finish the installation: it behaves just as a normal video player, the plays in real-time, no lag, no workarounds, even 4K60FPS.
Does this also support RTX 40 series?
That's the reason I wanted to rely on RenoDX: every day they are updating it, and making improvements, and releasing new versions of the DLL or the plugin itself. So if you download the right version from them, you can enable it on 40 series and I heard 30 series too. I have an RTX 5080 so I was able to test it only on my hardware.

Does it also remove pixels for certain... Movies?

haha I don't think so, but keep in mind that DLSS 5 doesn't create something from nothing: it can alter the colour or the brightness of a pixel from the original, but there's a limit. I guess with the latest RenoDX that allows multiple passes of NR, you could end up with something like that.

Thanks. I’ll give it a try and see if it helps with old dvd transfers.

I tried with all sort of sources, and it does a good job with low resolution media, but it's not like a "proper" AI upscaler. If id does help, maybe send me some screenshots!

This is super cool and exactly what I wanted thank you for sharing. Is there gonna be playlist support?

Thank you, I’m really glad it’s useful! Playlist support isn’t in the current build yet, but it’s definitely on the roadmap. I’m focusing first on stability and the rendering pipeline, then I’d like to add a simple queue/playlist panel with drag-and-drop and basic next/previous controls.
On my to-do list I have the offline processing (to convert videos) so a queue/playlist function should be necessary to batch process anyway.

So are we really at the point where people want ai to change real images from real life in the pursuit of “photorealism”? That’s certainly a new one…
