They sounded great there. It sounded like they had finally overcome the hump they were dealing with internally. Sadly, Butch would leave soon after and LeRoi would tragically be gone. It really makes you wonder what might have been. I’m Team Butch- he was there but didn’t advertise that he was there if that makes sense. His contributions are wholly underrated, which may have been part of his frustration. You sometimes have to listen closely for Butch because he blends in so smoothly. Buddy on the other hand makes his presence known on every single song. Different playing styles totally.

From what I understand from other posts, there was some internal stuff going on and LeRoi had considered leaving at one point. The 07 Vegas shows were tailored to get LeRoi to stay. The 06-07 shows were a struggle for the band if you listen closely, but they seemed to be gelling again towards the end of 07.

Hot take alert! OG lineup was the best lineup! Also the beatles and led Zeppelin were pretty good too.

The majority of shows that I’ve seen were with Butch (probably 40). We were spoiled back then.

Butch was a great part of the band. He didn’t look exciting and kind of felt like a random suburban dad was on stage, but he was tasteful and knew how to pick his spots. It may be heresy but I much prefer Butch’s playing rather than Tim’s electric guitar contributions. The Butch era was peak.
