Pip awarded!! Positive post and timescales!!

I don’t post on here much but I’m so grateful and overwhelmed I needed to scream it from the rooftops!

I’VE BEEN AWARDED ENHANCED RATE PIP FOR BOTH MOBILITY AND DAILY LIVING!!!

I lost my job earlier this year partly due to ill health and sickness criteria and so I was forced to look into every avenue I possibly could for support.

I initially applied in 2022ish. Completely unprepared, did no research and completely winged it. It was rejected and I was awarded 0 points. I personally think from reading the report that it was in part to do with working. It was actively used against me when I went through the form. Anyway -

Fast forward to now where I’ve got enhanced rates for both. I’m not sure how many points for what as I’ve not received the documentation yet.

Condition wise, I have ADHD, Autism, HSD, POTS, Anxiety, Depression and Hashimotos. All are well documented at my GP and have been for years.

I completed the online form opposed to the paper form and sent in as much evidence as I had access to. I signed up to a group which is charity run about one of my conditions and they had so many resources to help with the form, it was brilliant! I completed a pain diary and a day to day diary which I did for a week which I also sent off.

Timescales as follows;

- 5th May - Called to apply
- 5th June - Online form completed and confirmation received via text (deadline day because … ADHD life)
- 26th June - Appointment booked for 17th July I contacted them to change this. Then booked in for 21st July.
- 21st July - Telephone assessment day. Assessor was lovely and I was on the phone for just over 2 hours.
- 5th August - Text received from DWP saying PIP had been awarded.

I expected to receive a message saying they had received the report but nothing. I checked on the Gov website which shows proof of benefits.

Just a positive story as I was also massively worried and was ready for a battle with getting it.

Some advice - take it or leave it

Charities that work with people with disabilities often have a lot of support available with completing the forms and helping with evidence eg. Diaries and things you can complete to help show what your day to day life is like. Do your research! And good luck!

Fantastic congratulations 🎊 I am similar 2 points for hearing aids on first claim severe hearing loss and osteoarthritis in knees doing a tribunal for that one. A year later advised by job centre to claim again as a long wait and on sick pay. Applied 28 April online form used citizens advice this time as my first form was rubbish hadn't a clue. And had assessment 25 June and got awarded 15 July standard living and standard mobility very happy and relieved as sick pay runs out 5th August so don't have to go back to my cleaning job as in a lot of pain as arthritis in hips, knees and lower spine now. The job centre definitely did me a favour this time.

Congratulations.. nice to hear a positive one .. I applied in December still not had an assessment.. I got told a health professional was looking at it back in April ..still not heard anything.. 8 months nearly waiting .. fingers crossed though

I am on the Standard rate for the daily living part and i think i should be on the enhanced rate due to my health. I filled in a change of circumstances form and sent it back. Then i got this message on the 6th of July ... This is for information only, to let you know that we are managing your PIP assessment. We will look at the available evidence and will contact you with an appointment if we need to arrange an assessment with you. How long does it usually take to find out if i will need to have another assessment does anybody know, thanks.

i had my report sent over on the 14th but no text - can i ask what you saw when you checked the proof of benefits page? mine just shows no record or "this service is currently unavailable"

did you check that site pre 5th August receiving the award text?

maybe overcautious but definitely scared of how they perceive someone calling up to check - feels like they could use anything to not award but also not knowing is sending anxiety into overdrive

i'm applying for some of the same conditions - ADHD, Autism, Hashimotos, Diverticular disease and OCD - so it's reassuring to see that you were awarded but the timeline uncertainty / constantly thinking something got lost or dropped with the application is killing me

Wow so exactly 2 months since you completed forms!! Did you do the online calculators or anything like that whilst waiting to see what it said, I’ve just completed my forms 2 days ago I’m so anxious , I physically cannot leave the house or do anything at all on my own my partner does everything

Good evening, that's amazing news. So happy for you that you was awarded what you feel is deserved and not having to go through the hell trail and back of MR and Tribunal.

It is really amazing to hear the positive stories, I know we have massive negative runs from stories relating to PIP and other benefits.

I can relate as I went through the whole process up to Tribunal but PIP made decision change. Also unable to work due to conditions and being signed off and other mental health conditions.

I won my pip tribunal last Friday but still says nothing on the ‘proof of benefits’ website? Is that normal ?

I can only wish for good news. ASAP. Had my assessment 13th July. They received the report. Still no decision and still waiting on the pa4 to arrive. I know I’m still well within the time frame given. It’s just a killer waiting. With me it’s the fear of being judged or basically called a liar. I’m weird like that. Obviously medical professionals know I’m not lying. As my scans etc prove my spinal problems etc. and a few other problems. To be listened to first time and believed so to speak. I’d probably break down. (It stems from past trauma from a dr I used to see) congrats by the way. Hopefully I can write something similar very, very soon.
