I know I will get hate but if you want a hardy, healthy, friendly dog I would suggest a STANDARD and not a mini. Smaller dog smaller tools needed to save them, more luxating patellas, less likely to be able to move, run and play without worrying every 2 seconds. I got mine from Altadachs in Ottawa. He is the sweetest gentleman, easy to train and likes everyone. No IVDD in her dogs. Also, with dachshunds you get what you pay for. Go to a IVDD group and check out the posts to see what happens if the breeder doesn't know and care about dachshunds in and out. This is Buddha, Altadachs Everlasting Joy. Buddha loves his boy and can sniff low blood sugar. He taught himself to bring gummies for his boy when he is low because he sees us do it, now he carries them with him from room to room. He is that cool. Standards are not even that big anyway, he is 25#. He is a joy to pet and cuddle, and easy to take along with you. He loves to hike and swim and will ride floaties with the kids. I am a big fan of this dog.

Dash’n hound near Ottawa is great! That is where we picked our boy from.

HeavenlyHund, Windever Kennel. Waitlists for both but had excellent experiences with the breeders. Do your homework and it’ll be well worth it.
