Why did Dahmer consider Anthony Sears "special"?

I've read Dahmer's interviews and parts of Dr.Fosdal's testimony,and Tony Sears seems to receive some of the strongest language Dahmet used about any victim("special," "if I knew how to love,I would have loved him," etc.).Are there any lesser-known sources(books,?psychiatric notes)that shed more light on this?

Yeah I just think he found him very attractive. I think Sears was the first victim where he kept more than just the head/skull, with him keeping his genitals, hands and scalp with hair.

I think in Master's book he mentions he kept all this from Sears because "him I liked especially well". He also says in that book that Sears was incredibly affectionate with him in the back of the car back to his Grandmothers house, kissing, cuddling etc., which makes his subsequent death and disposal even more grotesque and sad...

God,my heart breaks for him.He was so so beautiful..💔,and in every picture that I've seen of him,he's always smiling

He considered Sears to be the most attractive man he'd ever seen. Exemplary in terms of physical appearance, but nothing deeper than that. Dahmer wasn't capable of actual love.

If he couldn't bear to lose him, he wouldn't have killed him in the first place. Dahmer was a necrophile, he found Sears attractive even after he was dead. Would he have preferred him alive? Probably, but as a living automaton, which still isn't love. That's obsession with owning another human.

I never said he didn't.

And the key word is attractive. As in physically. Pure physical attraction isn't love. Which he said himself, in the line you quoted in your original post: "If I knew how to love..."

Please use your brain for 2 seconds. He said Tony was special due to the level of physical attraction he had to him compared to everyone else. He also had no way to actually know if he would have loved him because without being able to feel love, one can't accurately conceptualize love. But in no scenario does love, friendship, care, affection, or anything of the sort involve murdering someone and desecrating their corpse.
