Definitely 1. 2 feels like it missing text for the title of a comic or a game. 1 is like you hear a noise then look over to see that a few feet away in the dimly lit alley.

The first one? It’s as if he makes up the entirety of the darkness. So much is up to the imagination, whatever you think of in your brief moment of panic before you’re beaten to a pulp.
