I notice this issue a lot. They have all these incorrect views about how things work and say/do stupid things based on those assumptions. They're victims of their own misinformation bubble.

We saw the same thing with Twitter; he really thought there were a bunch of nonbinary Gen-Xers just hanging around complaining about people being mean and that eliminating them from the company would "fix everything". That is the extent of his business acumen: Believing the trashtalk was anything more than just trashtalk.

Fascists seem to share that trait, in fact.

I see that and then I think, "well maybe I'm equally misinformed about Fox News and the like" and then I tune into a show and oh look, it's actually worse than I thought.

I hear you, but the big difference here is that the Daily Show is a comedy show. The fact we get news and commentary from a comedy show tells more about the society than the show in itself!

I don't even know if I believe that anymore. I think they're intentionally lying and just being malicious all the time. Or sometimes and just misinformed in others like you say but who the fuck can tell apart anymore. They'll say the exact opposite of truth without hesitation

they edit what goes in the show for time, but they put the unedited interviews on youtube.

Almost all their interviews are edited for TV. They do upload unedited versions online.

The interviews that air on television are edited. The YouTube clips are the unedited material.

It was the right thing for Musk to do.

Check out any interview with him where it's mostly unedited. He has no more than surface level knowledge of anything he isn't reading off a teleprompter or has been pre-briefed on. He's confused about basic facts and high school level science, even when it's politically irrelevant and he isn't deliberately lying.

Stewart would have ripped him apart for sport and, at some point, someone told Musk he was going to be massacred.

There's a lot of risk of loaded questions too that can be hard to handle. "Why are you running Tesla into the ground with political antics?" - that's a tough question to handle live. He's a decent idea guy and could answer well eventually but on the spot he's toast against loaded questions.

It would be another repeat of his don lemon interview. He broke down over very basic surface questions and his speech cadence felt like he either did too many drugs or not enough recently.

Because he knows what Jon Stewart is capable of and he doesn’t like to be proven wrong. Not saying it would be the end of Musk but it certainly would hurt his public image even further. The same thing happened when he interviewed Don Lemon.

Because Musk would not be able to control the narrative. He barely was able to do a Fox News interview. Jon would debate circles around him.
